Chapter 737 What's It Got to Do with Me?
Evelyn raised an eyebrow, immediately aware that inviting Geoffrey to the cafeteria was a mistake.
"Lisa, don't talk nonsense. When did we ever become a couple?" Geoffrey waved his hand quickly, afraid that Evelyn might misunderstand.
Lisa was infuriated by his words. "We're not a couple because I haven't accepted you yet."
But she didn't expect that in just a few days, Geoffrey would start liking Evelyn. This was too much.
"Lisa, maybe some of my actions or words before made you misunderstand. I apologize for that, but I just treat you as my sister," Geoffrey said earnestly.
Lisa took a deep breath, trying hard not to lose her temper. "A sister? I don't want to be your sister."
"Lisa, can you be reasonable?" Geoffrey was worried that she would affect Evelyn's opinion of him, so he desperately tried to distance himself from Lisa.
But he didn't know that Evelyn didn't care at all. She just wanted to finish her meal quickly and leave. She had no interest in knowing who Geoffrey wanted to date.
"Me, unreasonable?" Lisa pointed at herself and said incredulously.
Lisa's voice was loud, and many people were already watching them. Now, even more eyes were on them.
Geoffrey's pursuit of Lisa wasn't exactly a secret in the hospital. In fact, many female colleagues had had ambiguous relationships with him, but Geoffrey had never explicitly said he was pursuing them. So now that Geoffrey said he wanted to pursue Evelyn, they had no right to object.
But Lisa was different. Geoffrey had clearly expressed his intention to pursue her, so she felt she had the right to ask for clarification.
At this moment, Geoffrey deeply regretted ever getting involved with Lisa. If it weren't for her powerful father, he wouldn't have bothered with her.
Moreover, compared to Evelyn, Lisa wasn't even wealthy.
Geoffrey's face turned serious. He felt he had to clarify things, or Evelyn would definitely misunderstand.
"Lisa, I don't care what misunderstandings you had before, but I need to make it clear now. I have no other intentions towards you. I hope you don't come looking for me again to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings." He spoke seriously, making it seem like Lisa was the one pestering him.
His words infuriated Lisa even more. She gritted her teeth and turned her gaze to Evelyn. "You actually like someone like Geoffrey?"
Suddenly being mentioned, Evelyn felt speechless but still looked up. "You're mistaken. Geoffrey and I are just schoolmates."
"Schoolmates? That's a nice way to put it." Lisa didn't believe it at all.
Evelyn was speechless. 'Do you really think I would like Geoffrey?' she wondered inwardly.
"Lisa! Don't go too far," Geoffrey was furious, feeling that her words were very detrimental to him.
Lisa's face turned red with anger. She snorted coldly, got up, and left without even eating.
Evelyn watched Lisa's departing figure and sighed inwardly, 'With Geoffrey's character, Lisa shouldn't be angry at Geoffrey because it isn't worth it.'
While Evelyn was thinking this, Geoffrey started to explain, "Evelyn, don't listen to her nonsense. There's really nothing between us."
"Oh," Evelyn replied expressionlessly. She put down her fork then added, "What does that have to do with me?"
Evelyn didn't care about these things. Treating his invitation for meal was just a casual remark at the time. Now that the meal was over, she was ready to leave.
"Take your time eating. I have something to do, so I'll go first." She didn't even want to say goodbye, as she really didn't want to see him again.
