Chapter 1092: It Shows You Don't Know Him Well Enough
Evelyn threw on some comfy clothes and strolled downstairs to the dining room, where Dermot was already chilling.
"Grab a bite," Dermot said, dropping his financial newspaper and giving her his full attention.
Evelyn nodded and asked, "Did you pick out the clothes in the wardrobe?"
"Nah, I just talked to the brand reps. They sent over one of everything you’ve bought before," Dermot replied. He didn’t know her style, but those brands sure did.
Evelyn nodded, thinking it made sense. No wonder the clothes looked so familiar; they were all her usual picks.
"Thanks," Evelyn said, not really sure what else to say.
Dermot just smiled and served her a bowl of oatmeal. "As long as you like 'em."
While they ate, Dermot was thinking about taking Evelyn to see Tommy after breakfast.
Evelyn, on the other hand, was trying to figure out how to tell Dermot she was planning to go abroad.
After a night of drinking, she had realized a lot of things.
For her, love was way less important than other stuff, especially when it came to Joshua's future. She had made up her mind to go.
"Dermot," Evelyn suddenly said, biting her lip, "I might be going abroad with Joshua. Not sure when I'll be back."
Dermot's hand paused, but he tried to stay cool. "Yeah, Ruby told me."
"Huh? She told you?" Evelyn was surprised. She had been stressing for nothing; Dermot already knew.
"Are you sure you wanna go?" Dermot asked, looking at her.
Evelyn nodded seriously. "Yeah, even though the doc said his chances are slim, I can't just give up."
In her mind, if Joshua could get better, she could finally be free and do what she wanted.
So, no matter how tough it was, she was determined to help Joshua recover.
"Evelyn, you never believed a word I said before, did you?" Dermot smiled bitterly, not sure if he was mocking her or himself.
Evelyn was taken aback but then got it. "I just don't think anyone would fake something like this."
Especially since it was Joshua; it seemed even less likely.
"That just means you don't know Joshua well enough," Dermot said, wiping his mouth and handing her a file.
"I was gonna tell you after breakfast, but now, I’ve lost my appetite." He definitely wasn’t letting her go abroad with Joshua. Even without solid proof, he wouldn’t allow it.
Evelyn looked suspiciously at the file but put down her spoon and started reading.
The file was straightforward. Joshua's doctor had received a big chunk of money from the black market abroad. The money was under his son's name, but his son was just a teenager, and everyone knew what was up.
Evelyn was shocked but stayed calm. "What are you getting at?"
"How much do you think a doctor at Golombia Hospital makes in a month? Joshua's doc suddenly gets a huge sum of money. Don’t you find that fishy?" Dermot asked.
Evelyn was at a loss for words.
