Chapter 773 Do You Think It's Possible?
Wade couldn't help but snicker, "Harold, Amanda, isn't it a bit too snobbish of you? If word gets out, what will people think of the Allen family?"
Upon hearing this, Harold and Amanda showed a bit of embarrassment. "How can you call it snobbish? Everyone knows about you and Lucia, and they're all laughing at the Allen family behind our backs. Now that we can call off the engagement, no one will think we are in the wrong."
Amanda looked at Wade worriedly, "You haven't fallen for Lucia, have you?"
Wade laughed, "Do you think that's possible?"
Amanda thought for a moment and then shook her head. It was unlikely.
Amanda knew Wade's character well enough that he wouldn't be interested in a scheming woman like Lucia.
"In that case, calling off the engagement is good for everyone." Whether "everyone" included Lucia was something no one cared about.
Wade also knew that calling off the engagement was the right at this point. After all, he couldn't really bring Lucia into the family.
As he was thinking it, he heard Amanda continue, "Harold and I have found a great girl for you, much better than Lucia."
Wade couldn't help but roll his eyes.
"Take some time to meet her. I guarantee you'll like her," Amanda continued.
"I'm not interested," Wade refused.
Unfortunately, Amanda didn't care about his refusal and said directly, "How about this, I'll arrange for you to meet her tomorrow."
Wade didn't say anything, but it was clear he wasn't happy about it.
"Wade, I know you don't want to get married right now, but this isn't a long-term solution. It makes you an easy target for women with ulterior motives. It's better to get married," Amanda said earnestly.
She had a point indeed. If Wade got married, fewer women would try to scheme their way into the Allen family, since they had no chance.
Amanda smiled when she saw Wade remain silent, "It's settled then. I'll send you the address tomorrow, and you can meet her."
"By the way, calling off the engagement with Lucia, do you agree?" Amanda pressed. She was still worried because Wade hadn't agreed yet.
After a moment, Wade said, "I know. I'll arrange it."
He would never bring Lucia into the family, so calling off the engagement was for the best.
Upon haring this, Harold and Amanda were relieved.
After having dinner with his parents, Wade left and returned to his private villa.
When Wade arrived at the villa, Lucia was cooking in the kitchen. She was surprised to see him back so early, "You're home early today. Dinner's not ready yet."
"No need to cook. I've already eaten at my parents'," Wade replied, already seated on the couch.
He watched Lucia busy figure in the kitchen, lost in thought.
Hearing that he had eaten, Lucia paused, then turned off the stove and walked out of the kitchen.
"You went to your parents'?" Lucia asked anxiously.
"Yeah." Wade nodded.
"Did Harold and Amanda want something from you?" She had her suspicions but was afraid to confirm them.
As if knowing what Lucia was thinking, Wade said deliberately, "They just wanted me to call off the engagement. I think it's too trivial for Harold and Amanda to worry about."
Lucia didn't think it was a trivial.
But to Wade, it probably was just a trivial.
"So what did you say?" Lucia looked at Wade sitting on the couch, knowing her fate was about to be decided.
