Chapter 1297: We Have Never Offended You
"What the hell are you doing? Let Brad go!" Abbie yelled, her heart sinking as she saw her son getting roughed up.
But Jennifer wasn't about to back down. She'd heard all the dirt from Evelyn about this family.
They pawned off their daughter for cash. Who does that?
So today, she was here to make a point, to scare them off so they wouldn't mess with Lily again.
"Your kid's life is in my hands now. Better behave!" Jennifer sneered, waving her hand. The bodyguard stomped down hard, and the sound of bones cracking filled the room, followed by Brad's screams.
Now, Abbie was freaking out, and even Marshall was starting to sweat. But he kept his cool; he knew he couldn't mess with Jennifer.
"Ma'am, who are you? We haven't done anything to you. Why are you hurting Brad?" Marshall tried to keep his voice steady.
Jennifer, seeing his attempt to stay calm, finally spoke, "We're here because your daughter doesn't know her place. She's been sold to my boss but keeps trying to run. Clearly, you two didn't teach her right. So, should I come to you for trouble?"
Hearing that this was all about Lily, both Marshall and Abbie quickly shook their heads. "Lily's got nothing to do with us anymore. We sold her to you, she's your problem now. If she tries to run, you can beat her. She'll learn not to run eventually."
Abbie said this, and Jennifer couldn't believe a mother could be so cold.
But seeing her worried eyes on Brad, Jennifer thought these parents were playing favorites.
"How do I know you're not lying? Maybe you're in on it with her, and after she escapes, you sell her again for more cash?" Jennifer sneered, not buying their story.
Abbie shook her head frantically. "No, no, absolutely not."
"So, she's my boss's property now?" Jennifer asked.
Marshall and Abbie nodded like bobbleheads. "Yes, she's your boss's. Whether she lives or dies, it's got nothing to do with us. We won't go looking for her."
"You're really not gonna look for her?" Jennifer asked, still skeptical.
"Don't worry, I won't go looking for her," Abbie promised, even though she had thought about it before.
But now that she knew Lily's buyer was dangerous, she didn't dare.
Jennifer was satisfied but still warned, "Good. Don't get any ideas. Lily belongs to my boss now. From now on, she has no parents. If you even think about looking for her, know that my boss's temper is way worse than mine. You might end up dead."
"We won't, we definitely won't," Abbie shook her head, thinking Jennifer's temper was bad enough. If her boss was worse, it must be hell.
Jennifer stood up, pleased with how things were going, but she wasn't ready to leave just yet.
She walked over to Brad, bent down, and looked at him suffering on the ground. "I heard you sold her to get him a wife?"
"If he needs money again in the future, you won't go looking for Lily again, will you?" Jennifer was still suspicious.
Before Marshall and Abbie could answer, Brad spoke up first, "No, no, I promise we won't go looking for Lily again."
His hand was already broken, and he didn't want the other one to go too.
