Chapter 878 Do I Need Your Reminder?

Dermot glanced over and said, "Since you can't go go through official channels, just cross the border. Shouldn't be too hard for you."

"Do I need your reminder?" Joshua snapped. "I've already arranged for them to cross the border. I'm just worried the Doyle family might be prepared in advance."

"Given the current situation, the Doyle family can't guard every border. If you split them up and have each person cross at a different point, the success rate is still pretty high," Dermot suggested.

Joshua shook his head. "This isn't a vacation. Even crossing the border together has a high chance of being discovered. If they split up, they won't have a chance to make it.y."

They both knew crossing the border meant smuggling, which was risky.

Joshua had arranged a route they'd used before, one with a higher success rate, but he was still worried.

"I didn't know you cared so much about your men. I thought you'd just kill them to keep them quiet after the job," Dermot teased.

Joshua's face darkened. "You have quite the imagination. These are my trusted men. I don't want anything to happen to them unless necessary."

"Alright, you handle it. I can't help you," Dermot said, knowing he had no connections in this area. Craig might, but he didn't want his men involved, so he kept quiet.

Joshua hadn't expected help from Dermot anyway, but he was annoyed by his attitude. "Aren't you worried if they fail, they'll rat you out?"

"Even if they do, someone has to believe it," Dermot chuckled.

Joshua sneered. "I really got played by you this time."

"Played? Haven't you always been annoyed that Otis kept bothering Evelyn? Now, he doesn't. Mission accomplished, right?" Dermot said.

Joshua couldn't argue with that, but something still felt off.

Changing the subject, Joshua asked, "Did you tell Evelyn everything?"

"I did," Dermot replied.

"And my involvement..." Joshua started.

"Don't worry, I didn't mention you." Dermot reassured him. He still had some integrity.

Joshua felt relieved but knew this wasn't a long-term solution. Was he going to be blackmailed by Dermot forever?

As if reading his mind, Dermot smiled. "Don't worry, unless necessary, I won't ask for your help again."

Joshua asked, "So, you really plan to ask for my help again, right? What 'unless necessary,' it's all an excuse."

"I don't have many trusted men, and yours have unclear backgrounds. They're perfect for some shady business." Although he didn't have any immediate plans, he wanted Joshua to be prepared.

Joshua was almost angry. "Dermot, do you think I'd rather be threatened by you forever or just kill you to make things simpler?"

He stood up, towering over Dermot, who was lying weakly on the hospital bed.

"Don't say that. Cooperation is a win-win. At worst, name your price, and I'll pay. After all, it's your work," Dermot said, not mocking Joshua but genuinely meaning it.

Mercenaries, after all, were in the business of selling their services for money.
