Chapter 1050: I Don't Want Us to Turn Against Each Other
Even though they were sitting calmly now, if Craig tried anything illegal, Alex wouldn't hesitate to stop him.
Craig had no clue what Alex was thinking. With a cold snort, he got up and left.
He clearly wasn't interested in staying at the party.
The others watched him leave in silence. They knew about the grudge between Craig and Alex and didn't want to get involved.
Dermot was about to get up and check on things, but Evelyn pulled him back and shook her head. "Someone else will go."
Right after she said that, Lydia stood up, frowning, and followed Craig.
It was clear Dermot wasn't the only one who cared about Craig; Lydia did too.
The party went on, and Craig's exit didn't really affect it.
About an hour later, the karaoke ended, and everyone started playing party games.
Dermot had planned a movie for everyone to watch together, and they all agreed to stay up until midnight to ring in the New Year.
In the study, Dermot looked at Craig with concern. "Are you planning to go after Alex?"
"He deserves to die!" Craig's face was twisted with rage, and he didn't hide it from Dermot.
Dermot felt a headache coming on. Craig's intense desire to kill Alex was troubling.
"You know his status. If you go after him, are you ready to spend your life in prison?" Dermot warned.
Craig sneered, unfazed. "You know how things work in Golombia. Not all cops are like Alex. With enough money, no one will care if he's dead."
In his mind, money could solve anything.
"You can't go after him. He's my partner. You should understand that," Dermot insisted. He had no strong ties with the police, so he considered teaming up with Alex.
The partnership was new and hadn't produced results yet. If Craig killed him, it would all be for nothing.
Craig glanced at him, indifferent. "If you want a partner, there are better options. You can't control Alex, and it might bring you trouble."
"Craig."
"I get it. It's because of Evelyn, right? You don't want to go after Alex because Evelyn thinks they're a good match, so you support her, right?" Craig interrupted, understanding the situation.
Dermot didn't argue, and Craig continued, "Dermot, I'm not asking for your help. Don't worry; I won't put you in a tough spot."
Craig added, "But don't interfere when the time comes. I don't want us to become enemies."
Dermot's headache worsened, and he sighed, "You want to kill Alex to get Ruby back. But have you thought it through? If you do it, will Ruby really come back to you?"
There would be blood between them.
Craig stayed silent, clearly wrestling with his thoughts.
"You know, I want to persuade you to give up on Ruby. Lydia seems really nice, and she genuinely likes you..."
Before Dermot could finish, Craig shot him a look. Dermot said, "If you really like Ruby, then you definitely can't go after Alex. You don't want to push Ruby further away, do you?"
