Chapter 701: Making a Decision
After Lucia and Wade got engaged, Blake and Wade no longer had any reservations about their interactions. Rumors often circulated that the Kyte family and the Allen family would collaborate, but such a partnership had yet to materialize.
All eyes in Golombia were fixed on the situation, with many suspecting a collaboration between the Kyte and Allen families, although the specifics of this collaboration remained a mystery.
Evelyn didn't concern herself with these matters. She had no say in the affairs of the Roberts family so she continued to work as a regular employee in the business department.
Due to Lucia and Wade's engagement, it was assumed that Evelyn would be the ideal successor to the Kyte family. Consequently, Kyte Group employees treated her with increased respect, and very few dared to challenge her.
This deference extended beyond the Kyte Group staff; when Evelyn engaged with clients, her success rate soared to nearly ninety percent, propelling her to the top performer in the department.
Evelyn felt a bit helpless about this, knowing that if she continued to stay in the business department, it would be unfair to the other employees.
These achievements should have belonged to the other department members, but because of her presence, she took all the credit, leaving others with much less commission.
After much hesitation, she made a decision.
In Blake's office, Blake had just finished talking with Wade. Seeing Evelyn come in, he smiled and waved her over. "Evelyn, come and sit."
Evelyn walked over, glanced at Wade, and asked, "Were you two discussing something?"
"We've finished," Wade replied.
Evelyn nodded, she was curious about the progress. "How's the Roberts family doing?"
The plan had been set in motion for a while, and considering the contract signed by the Roberts family earlier, it should have been implemented by now, yet she hadn't received any updates.
"Recently, the Roberts family has lost several projects in a row. I guess they'll soon realize I am targeting them," Blake said with a confident smile.
Evelyn raised an eyebrow. "Then be careful. Who knows what the Roberts family might do when they go crazy."
"Don't worry. If they really dare to act recklessly, it would be their own downfall," Blake said indifferently. If the Roberts family made a move, it would only give him more leverage against them.
Upon hearing this, Evelyn refrained from asking more questions, knowing that Blake had a better grasp of business affairs. Trusting his judgment that there was no issue, she felt reassured.
Observing that she appeared to have something to discuss with Blake, Wade interjected, "I have some company matters to address, so I'll take my leave first."
"Alright, be careful with the Roberts family. If they can find me, they can definitely find you too," Blake advised.
Wade nodded, but his eyes were filled with disdain, clearly not taking it to heart.
He stood up and, as he passed by Evelyn, couldn't help but ask, "How about lunch together?"
Evelyn was taken aback. Since Wade had been manipulated by Lucia, they hadn't had a meal together. Wade's sudden invitation surprised her.
"No matter what, we're both Mr. Smith's students. We shouldn't let others affect our relationship," Wade said with a smile, his eyes showing the same familiar look.
Seeing this, Evelyn smiled too and nodded. "Alright, just wait for me downstairs. I'll come find you after I finish talking with Blake."
She had feared that Wade might pull away due to Lucia, but now she saw her concerns were unfounded, and her spirits lifted.
Wade concurred and promptly exited the office. As Evelyn glanced back at Blake, she noticed a chilling look in his eyes.
