Chapter 303 Just Heat of the Moment
In that moment, Evelyn wanted to cover Ethan's mouth, but she was too slow.
The atmosphere instantly became awkward. Sensing Dermot's gaze, Evelyn quickly turned her head to look out the window, feeling a bit guilty.
Dermot's lips curved, but he didn't say anything. Instead, he continued to drive.
Soon, the car arrived at the adoptive family's home. The couple had been waiting for them for a while and ushered them in upon their arrival.
In the living room, the couple looked at the two children with affection and said, "Are these Ethan and Mia? They're so cute."
"Hello, uncle and aunt," Ethan greeted with a smile, trying to win their favor.
Mia was still a bit clueless, but she followed her brother in calling them uncle and aunt, and even complimented the aunt on her beauty, making them smile even more.
Soon, the two children were happily playing with the couple. Evelyn and Dermot stood to the side, watching without interfering.
"Emily Morgans said she likes me?" Dermot stood beside her, his magnetic voice ringing in Evelyn's ears, causing her to tense up.
She thought Dermot had forgotten about it, but she didn't expect him to bring it up now.
She forced a laugh before saying, "It was just a joke, just a joke."
If Emily Morgans hadn't gone too far, she wouldn't have lost control of herself.
"Are you sure it was just a joke? Because it feels like something you truly mean," Dermot didn't believe it was a joke, knowing Evelyn wouldn't say she liked him out of anger.
Evelyn remained silent, refusing to admit anything.
It didn't matter if she didn't admit it to Dermot, as long as she knew the truth herself.
With that thought, Dermot took out his phone, "I'm going to make a call."
"Okay," Evelyn nodded, not thinking much of it.
Dermot walked away and dialed Todd's number, "Have you come up with the ten plans I asked for?"
"Reporting to Mr. Doyle, I have come up with them. The proposal is on your desk," Todd replied, feeling excited at the thought of a doubled bonus.
Dermot was satisfied with this and hung up the phone, returning to Evelyn's side.
At noon, Evelyn and the group had a meal at the couple's house, tasting each other's cooking skills.
"Mr. Doyle, Ms. Kyte, we are very satisfied with Ethan and Mia. When do you think we can proceed with the adoption procedures?" the couple asked, feeling anxious as long as the adoption wasn't finalized yet.
Evelyn looked at the two children, Ethan nodded, and Mia smiled. Although they didn't know what was happening, Evelyn could tell they liked this couple.
She said, "Whenever you are ready, I hope the two children can grow up healthy and happy under your care."
That was her only wish.
"Ms. Kyte, rest assured, my wife and I won't have any more children, so Ethan and Mia are our children. We will definitely treat them well," the host said sincerely.
Evelyn nodded, "Please proceed with the procedures as soon as possible."
She also wanted the two children to return to a normal life soon. They couldn't continue like this, with no direction. It was time for them to go to school.
"I'll take care of the procedures," Dermot offered. These matters were tedious, and it would be troublesome for Evelyn to handle herself.
"Thank you, Mr. Doyle. With your help, everything should go smoothly," the host expressed his gratitude. Dermot was someone they couldn't reach, and not only did he help them find suitable children, but he was also willing to help with the follow-up procedures. How could they not be grateful?
