Chapter 1067: Are You Saying the Child Is Aidan
When Evelyn saw Craig, he already had a coffee, like he knew she'd show up.
"Cut to the chase. What's this about?" Evelyn sat down, wanting to get back to her meal. She wasn't up for chit-chat.
Craig didn't flinch at her tone. They never really got along anyway.
He sipped his coffee and said, "Did you know Phoebe's pregnant?"
Evelyn was surprised. "Yeah, I know."
"You know?" Craig frowned.
"Yeah, she came to the hospital this morning with a headache. Since she's pregnant, she didn't want a brain CT, so I just gave her some painkillers," Evelyn said plainly.
Craig processed this, then muttered, "What an idiot!"
A kid whose dad wouldn't accept it—Craig couldn't get why she'd want to have it.
Evelyn cut in, "What do you want? If it's about Phoebe, it's your family's problem, not mine."
"Not your problem?" Craig got a bit angry.
Evelyn sensed his anger but didn't get why. "What else? How's it my problem?"
Craig laughed coldly. "Do you even know whose kid it is?"
"I asked her, but she didn't say. It's definitely not mine," Evelyn replied, confused why Craig was telling her this.
She didn't care about Phoebe's issues or her baby.
Craig looked at her, asking, "Who do you think it is?"
Evelyn was about to say she didn't know, but Craig's look made her pause. A thought crossed her mind, but she dismissed it. No way.
Craig saw her expression change. "Looks like you have a guess."
Evelyn was speechless.
Craig continued, "I was shocked when I found out. I couldn't believe Aidan would do this, and that someone in the Irvine family could be so naive."
Craig sneered, "Aidan took advantage of her, and now she's pregnant and wants to raise the kid alone. It's ridiculous!"
Evelyn finally snapped out of it. "You're saying the kid is Aidan's?"
"Phoebe likes Aidan; you know that." Back then, Phoebe kept bothering Aidan and causing trouble for Evelyn, so Craig took her away and sent her abroad.
Craig never thought Aidan was also abroad, and Phoebe went after him.
He didn't know what happened between them and didn't care. What mattered was the kid was Aidan's, and Aidan had to take responsibility.
As an Irvine, Phoebe couldn't have a kid out of wedlock. It'd make the family a joke.
No matter what Phoebe said, Craig was firm: Aidan had to step up.
