Chapter 1247: Don't worry, Alex won't die.
Ruby let out a big sigh of relief.
"Finally got a lead, huh?" she mumbled.
With Evelyn and Dermot on the case, they’d track down Alex in no time.
She quickly wiped her eyes, trying to dodge Evelyn's stare.
Evelyn caught her and said, "Ruby, you really jumped the gun this time."
"Yeah, I was just freaking out." Ruby knew she was talking about her rushing to find Craig. Normally, she’d steer clear of him, but after what happened to Alex, she didn’t care.
"I thought you just had a crush on Alex, but it seems like it's more than that," Evelyn sighed, not sure what else to say.
Ruby felt just as confused, "I thought it was just a crush too. But when he got into trouble, I lost it. I can't even explain it."
"I get it." Evelyn nodded, feeling the same way about Dermot.
This had to be love.
"Evelyn, when are you and Dermot tying the knot?" Ruby suddenly asked, catching Evelyn off guard.
Evelyn looked at her, puzzled by the sudden question.
Ruby gave a sheepish smile. "I just think after all this, we should appreciate the people around us more. You guys getting married would be awesome."
Dating could end anytime, but marriage, even with the risk of divorce, was a whole different ball game.
"Wait, do you wanna marry Alex?" Evelyn's eyes went wide with shock.
Ruby blushed, feeling a bit shy. "Yeah."
Seeing Evelyn's stunned face, she quickly added, "But don’t worry, I’ll wait until you and Dermot get hitched first."
"So, if I don’t hurry up and marry Dermot, I’m holding you up?" Evelyn rolled her eyes, not getting Ruby's logic.
Ruby felt even more embarrassed. "I just think you guys will get married soon."
Evelyn thought she and Dermot were far from that.
"If you wanna get married, just do it. You don’t have to wait for us." Evelyn said. She wasn’t gonna push her; Ruby was a grown-up and could make her own choices.
As a friend, Evelyn just needed to have her back.
"No, I promised I’d wait until you got married first." Ruby wouldn’t tie the knot until she saw Evelyn happy.
Evelyn felt helpless; she didn’t even remember Ruby making such a promise.
But she wasn’t gonna argue about it. Right now, they needed to find Alex.
Just then, Evelyn's phone rang. It was Dermot.
Evelyn answered, chatted for a bit, then looked at Ruby. "They found Alex."
"Is he okay? Where is he?" Ruby was super excited.
"He's on his way back to Golombia, but he's hurt. He’ll probably go straight to the hospital." Evelyn replied.
Ruby's face went pale. "What? Is it bad?"
"Don’t worry, he’s not gonna die." Evelyn stood up and asked, "Wanna go to the hospital?"
Ruby jumped up. "Of course."
Ruby and Evelyn, who had just gotten back to the Kite Apartment, quickly left again, leaving Ruby's parents totally confused about what was going on.
