Chapter 589 That's Not Necessary

</Chapter> Upon hearing that Evelyn was to accompany their father to the company, Dora and Lucia, who were sittingseated nearby, changed their wore expressions when they heard Evelyn was going to the company.

of surprise. "Dad, I want to go learn at the company too," Lucia blurted out without thinking. The ideasuddenly declared, her words surprising even herself. The thought had never crossedpreviously occurred to her mind before; she had seen no need to enduresubject herself to such toil.

labor. But now it was differentthe circumstances had changed. If she didn't go, what if Evelyn won over all the corporate staff?

Blake looked surprised attaken aback by her sudden interest,. "You too? I recall offering that before, and you weren't so keen."

Lucia felt awkwarda pang of embarrassment but insisted, held her ground. "I was immature before, unaware of your burdens. But now I see things differently. Seeing my sister shouldering your worries, of course, I want to contribute."

Her earnestness Blake was caught Blake off guard, by her earnestness. "If that's your attitude, it seems you've grown up."

Just as Blake was about to agree, Evelyn interjected, "I don't think that's necessary."

"What do you mean 'not necessary'? Evelyn, what are you implying?" Lucia fumedbristled, seeing that Blake was about to consent but stopped because of Evelyn's objection.

Evelyn looked at her with a serene smile,. "I just think there's no need for you to go through so much trouble. Why not just find a good match and settle down?"

This was something she and Blake had discussed before, and upon her reminder, it clicked for Blake too,. "Lucia, do you have someone in mind?"

The question made Lucia's cheeks flame with embarrassment as Kevin's face flashed in her mind.

Seeing her reaction, Blake understood,. "Is it a Mr. Dermot? Tell me who he is; I'll make the arrangements."

"Dad," Lucia murmured, flustered.
Lucia was still a littleyoung girl, and with Evelyn, her older sister, not yet married off, there was no rush for Lucia either. Dora spoke up in time to prevent Lucia from continuing.

Dora knew what was on Lucia's mind, but now wasn't the time. If Lucia married out, she'd be cut off from the Kyte family entirely.

Growing anxious, Lucia looked to her mother, only to see her glaring back, the words she wanted to say swallowed down. She couldn't understand—why wouldn't her mother let her speak?

Blake glanced at the two women before interjecting,. "Don't worry about Evelyn; she's exceptional, and plenty of people would be glad to marry her."

"As for Lucia, you should focus on her more," Blake stated firmly, making a decision. "Try to find her a suitable match sooner rather than later."

Dora's face clouded over at his words.

She understood all too well what Blake was implying. Evelyn would stay and inherit the Kyte legacy, while Lucia would be married off.

Her annoyance was palpable, but she held back her anger, saying, "I'll keep that in mind, but let's have her get some experience at the company first so that she won't be underestimated when she does marry."

"That makes sense," Blake conceded, seeing the logic in that. She was his daughter, after all, and it wouldn't reflect well if she lacked capability.

With the matter settled, Blake left for the study after dinner, leaving the three women in the living room.

Dora's expression changed sharply, and she fixed Evelyn with an accusing glare. "This was your idea, wasn't it? To marry off Lucia so no one would contest your claim to the Kyte inheritance?"

She was convinced it was Evelyn's doing, especially since Blake had never expressed such thoughts until Evelyn came into the picture, not even showing concern for Lucia's marriage prospects.

"It was my idea. What are you going to do about it?" Evelyn didn't deny it; it was deliberate.

She had been looking for a way to leverage something over these two, eager for Dora to make a move so she could catch her red-handed.
