Chapter 1044: The New Year Eve's Party

Craig and Lydia had just arrived when Evelyn got a call from Ruby, who wanted to join their New Year's Eve celebration.

Evelyn told Ruby they were at Dermot's place, and Ruby immediately said she wanted to come over.

Evelyn asked, "Are you sure? Craig and Lydia are both here."

Ruby didn't have feelings for Craig anymore, but who knew about Craig? If she came over, things could get awkward.

Ruby paused for a moment but then decided, "It's fine. I'm coming to spend New Year's Eve with you, not them."

"Alright, I'll send you the address," Evelyn said, happy but a bit worried.

Evelyn hung up and glanced at Craig, who was standing off to the side. Lydia was chatting away, but Craig wasn't paying attention.

Evelyn went to Dermot and told him Ruby was coming. "If Craig acts up, you need to handle it."

"Don't worry, I got it," Dermot nodded, looking a bit resigned.

He knew Ruby was over Craig, but he hoped Craig would get the message soon.

"Shouldn't we start getting the decorations and food ready? I can help," Evelyn suggested, noticing the time.

Dermot shook his head and smiled. "Don't worry, I have it all planned."

Evelyn shrugged.

"I appreciate it, but really, it's all taken care of," Dermot reassured her. He had hired a service to handle the decorations and food.

"Where's Henry? I don't see him," Evelyn asked, looking around.

Dermot pointed upstairs, looking a bit serious. "He's resting in his room."

"Is he okay?" Evelyn asked, concerned.

Dermot sighed, showing a rare hint of sadness. "He's getting old. He passed out from worry when he thought something happened to me."

He was scared his grandpa might pass away suddenly, but he couldn't show it.

"Don't worry, he'll be fine. After New Year, we'll take him to Columbia Hospital for a check-up," Evelyn said.

Dermot nodded, saying nothing more. They both knew it was only a matter of time.

Just then, the doorbell rang. Evelyn thought it was Ruby and muttered about how quickly she had arrived as she went to open the door.

But it wasn't Ruby. It was Luke, to her surprise.

Seeing Evelyn, Luke was also surprised. "Isn't Dermot living here?"

"Yes," Evelyn nodded, noticing Benjamin behind him.

Benjamin was out of the hospital but still in a wheelchair. His eyes held a different look now, as if the animosity he once had toward Evelyn was gone.
