Chapter 1180: How Do You Want to Cooperate
The place went dead quiet, like the only thing you could hear was the three of them breathing.
Nathaniel and Bella were totally floored that Evelyn would just drop the bomb like that. Not at all what they saw coming.
"Mrs. Flores, you look like you've seen a ghost. Need to hit the restroom and chill out?" Evelyn asked, eyeing her.
Bella was about to say no, but then she caught Evelyn's look and figured there was more to it. "Yeah, I could use a breather."
She shot a glance at Nathaniel. He caught their little exchange but didn't seem to give a damn. They were on his turf, no way they could pull anything slick.
"Go on, holler if you need anything," Nathaniel told her.
Bella forced a smile, nodded, and headed to the restroom.
Once Bella was out of sight, Nathaniel's smile vanished. "What game are you playing?" he asked, ice-cold.
"Mr. Flores, you're reading too much into it. I really wanna team up with you. Seabrook City’s got potential, and we need your backing to make it here," Evelyn said, all smiles.
Nathaniel gave her a skeptical look but didn't call her out. Whatever she was up to would come out soon enough.
"The Kyte family wants a piece of Seabrook City? What, Golombia ain't big enough for your ten families to brawl over?" Nathaniel sneered, clearly not impressed with the ten families of Golombia.
Evelyn shrugged it off. Money makes people cocky. "Yeah, everyone's looking for better opportunities, and the Kyte family’s no different."
"So, how do you wanna team up?" Nathaniel asked.
Evelyn started talking business with Nathaniel. She wasn’t a business whiz, but she’d picked up a thing or two from hanging around Dermot.
In the restroom, Bella actually calmed down and started thinking about what Evelyn wanted from her.
As she was mulling it over, someone walked in. She turned and everything clicked.
"Bella." Blake’s eyes were red, staring at her like he couldn’t believe it.
He never thought he’d see Bella again.
Bella panicked. "What are you doing here? Get out! Now!"
She was scared Nathaniel’s people would spot him. If they knew Blake was here, Nathaniel would never let him off the hook.
"Bella, how’ve you been all these years?" Blake ignored her and kept talking.
Bella’s eyes welled up. "I’ve been fine. How about you?"
"Not great," Blake admitted. "Without you, it’s been rough."
"How can that be? I heard you got married and have a daughter," Bella said with a bitter smile. Nathaniel had thrown that in her face during their fights, trying to make her give up on going back to Golombia.
Blake felt a pang of guilt. "I’m sorry, Bella. Back then, I..."
"You don’t owe me an explanation. I’ve been married a long time and have my own life now. You shouldn’t come looking for me," Bella cut him off. No matter his reasons, he was married.
