Chapter 456 As Long as You're Happy

His sincerity was undeniable, and it was impossible for Evelyn to remain indifferent. After all, she remembered his kindness and wouldn't forget it just because he had deceived her.

"Let's go eat, it's already late," Evelyn spoke up, not wanting to continue discussing this topic.

Dermot, however, didn't move, looking at Evelyn with a pitiful expression. "I thought you would come back quickly, so I cooked and waited for you."

"Huh?" This time, Evelyn was truly surprised.

"Yeah," Dermot nodded, very serious. Evelyn was at a loss for words. She didn't know what to say. This wasn't like Dermot at all.

"Now that it's ready, let's eat together," she said, even though she wasn't hungry. She didn't want to waste Dermot's kindness. Besides, she couldn't bear to see this man not eating anything. She felt guilty inside.

Following Dermot into the house, she realized that the decorations had all been changed. It was no longer the dark and gloomy style from before; it had become warm and cozy.

Seeing her look around, Dermot said somewhat downcast, "You promised to help me with the interior design, but then..." he trailed off.

There was no need to mention what happened next. They broke up, Dermot had to find someone else to redesign it.

"It looks great like this, definitely more professional than what I could have done." No matter what, the new decorations looked much better than before.

Hearing her say that Dermot smiled. "As long as you like it."

Evelyn was speechless. It wasn't like she was going to live here. Did it really matter if she liked it or not? She didn't say those words out loud. She didn’t want to upset Dermot again.

In the dining room, the table was already set, with several dishes that Evelyn liked. A warm feeling washed over Evelyn's heart. She couldn't help but soften her resolve. ‘Dermot, oh Dermot, what am I supposed to do with you?’

She had already made up her mind, not to have anything to do with this man anymore, but she couldn't help but feel a little reluctant, and sorry for him.

"Sit down and have a taste," Dermot didn't know what she was thinking, but he was happy to have her here. Evelyn didn't refuse and sat down, looking at the dishes on the table.

"What would you have done if I didn't come back?"

"You would have eventually come back," Dermot said confidently. Evelyn looked at him, unable to express her feelings.

"Dermot, don't you think this is wrong? You shouldn't be like this." Evelyn felt that Dermot's affection for her was a bit excessive, beyond the usual liking, and it made her uneasy.

"No, I think it's fine," he said. He used to be aimless, like a floating duckweed on a lake, without a target. But ever since he met Evelyn, he found his purpose. He only wanted to be with her, and spend the rest of his life with her, so he didn't think anything he did was excessive.

Unfortunately, Evelyn didn't feel the same way. She was already worried about Dermot's mental state before, and now she was even more concerned.

Even though he seemed fine, this kind of excessive attachment was actually a pathological expression. But she kept these thoughts to herself. Not wanting to anger him.

"Let's eat," she said, but deep down, she knew she had to find a chance to talk to Dermot about keeping a healthy distance. Maybe go and see a psychologist. But how could she convince him? Evelyn was troubled by this.

"You should eat too," Dermot spoke up, picking up some food and placing it on her plate. "I know you've probably eaten already, but it's okay, just have a taste."

Evelyn nodded and didn't refuse. It was better not to provoke this man at the moment.
