Chapter 860 Ask Him Yourself
Evelyn didn't get it, but she didn't object. "Alright, it is up to you. I trust you."
"Okay." Joshua grinned. "Did Otis really just want to talk about business? Is he that kind-hearted?"
"Who cares about his motives? As long as we benefit, it doesn't matter." Evelyn shrugged.
Joshua got the hint—Evelyn wasn't into Otis. Still, he'd help Dermot deal with Gerald because Otis bugging Evelyn annoyed him.
After breakfast, Joshua suggested they visit Aidan and grab a meal together.
Evelyn agreed. Since Aidan's return, they hadn't seen much of each other. She felt he was more distant now, unlike in Moris City.
On the way, Joshua remembered something. "Do you know what's up with Aidan?"
"What do you mean?" Evelyn was puzzled.
Joshua thought she knew, given the buzz around Aidan's situation. With their relationship, she should have known.
He hesitated but then said, "You can ask him yourself later."
If Aidan hadn't told her, he probably didn't want her to know. Joshua didn't want to upset him.
"Okay." Evelyn found it odd. She thought, 'Why the secrecy? Is there something that couldn't be said?'
When they met Aidan, she asked him directly.
Aidan shot Joshua a deadly glare.
Joshua awkwardly looked away. He didn't know Aidan hadn't told Evelyn.
"Aidan?" Evelyn was even more curious when he just stared at Joshua.
Aidan turned to her, his anger gone. "Don't listen to him. It's nothing, just a tough client."
"How tough?" Evelyn was skeptical. If it were just a client, Joshua wouldn't have known.
Aidan paused, thinking. Joshua knew he was crafting a lie.
Finally, Aidan said, "I didn't want to work with him, so he hired someone to attack me. I got a bit hurt, but it's no big deal."
"Injured? Where? Is it serious?" Evelyn was immediately worried.
"It's healed, not serious," Aidan assured.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Evelyn was upset and then felt guilty. If not for her, Aidan wouldn't have gone abroad.
She apologized, "I'm sorry. It's my fault."
"It's not your fault. Business is like that; you meet shady people. Don't overthink it." Seeing that Evelyn believed him, Aidan felt a bit relieved. Lying to Evelyn required a lot of courage for him.
