Chapter 1035: It's Not Your Fault, It's Mine

When Dermot got back to the living room, Henry was still there, looking icy. "Did you take her home?"

"Yeah," Dermot nodded, sitting down.

"What's up with you? After all this time, you still haven't won Evelyn over?" Henry was genuinely worried.

Dermot sighed. "Grandpa, you think I don't want to be with her?"

If Evelyn was willing, they'd be together by now.

"She doesn't trust you because of your past. Now you regret it, huh?" Henry rolled his eyes.

Before Dermot could respond, Henry continued, "When you got married, I told you Evelyn was a good girl. But what did you do? You didn't even meet her once. Now you regret it, don't you? You let a good wife slip away."

The more Henry talked, the angrier he got. He had worked hard to get Dermot to marry Evelyn, but they still ended up divorced.

If Dermot hadn't been so stubborn, he might have had great-grandkids by now.

Dermot felt helpless. He had regretted it for a long time.

"What's the point of talking about it now? What's done is done." If Dermot had known it would turn out this way, he never would have divorced her. But he didn't know.

Henry glared at him. "You deserve it!"

Dermot was at a loss for words.

After all, this was his grandpa. If it were Randy from the Doyle family, Dermot would have stormed out long ago.

"What did the Doyle family say?" Henry asked, eager to change the subject. Talking about Evelyn only made him angrier, so he decided to drop it.

"Everything's going smoothly. I'm now the head of the Doyle family and will officially take over after the New Year," Dermot replied. By then, all of Columbia would be in for a surprise.

The Doyle family was finally his.

Henry let out a cold chuckle, pride in his eyes. "He schemed everything back then, but in the end, it benefited my grandson."

"Yeah, because you have a good grandson," Dermot replied.

Henry rolled his eyes, got up, and went back to his room, not wanting to talk anymore.

On New Year's Eve, the streets buzzed with joy and excitement.

Evelyn woke up early to find the villa eerily quiet. The servants and bodyguards had the day off, leaving just her and Joshua in the spacious house.

To be precise, there was also Brandon.

Joshua said Brandon was an orphan he had saved, so he had been by his side all these years and naturally stayed to celebrate the New Year together.

Evelyn had no objections. The more, the merrier for New Year.

"Evelyn, what are you planning to do today? I can help you," Joshua, pushed by Brandon, came to the kitchen and saw Evelyn busy.

Evelyn turned to look at him and waved her hand. "No, no, we have to wait for Aidan and the others. I can't cook."

Evelyn felt a bit embarrassed. She really couldn't help with cooking.

"It's not your fault, it's mine. I invited you here but didn't arrange for any cooks." He had given everyone the day off, hoping to spend some quality time with Evelyn during the New Year, but now they faced the problem of cooking for themselves.

Actually, he could cook, but he was in a wheelchair and couldn't do it.

"It's no big deal. Aidan can cook. Let him do it, and I'll help him," Evelyn said casually. She was always grateful to Joshua.
