Upon hearing her mention that she was still unaware, Geoffrey felt a sense of relief. Could this imply that Evelyn might not secure the position after all?
Unaware of Geoffrey's thoughts, Evelyn noticed the evident relief on his face, rendering her speechless.
Did whether she gets the job have anything to do with him? Why did he care so much?
"Why did you suddenly decide to leave Moris Hospital? Did something there make you unhappy?" Geoffrey asked curiously.
Evelyn shook her head, not wanting to say too much. "It's for personal reasons, and didn't you say before that Golombia Hospital has better prospects?"
She remembered how proud Geoffrey appeared when discussing his work at Golombia Hospital before. So why wasn't he as excited now that she would be joining Golombia Hospital?
Geoffrey gave a dry laugh, scratching his head to ease the awkwardness. "You're right. With your skills, you'll definitely make a mark at Golombia Hospital."
"Thanks." Evelyn smiled.
Geoffrey glanced at the time and then said to Evelyn, "You haven't eaten yet, right? Let't have a meal together."
"No need."
"We're both alumni, let's not be so quick to dismiss each other," Geoffrey interjected. Since he learned about Evelyn's background, he had different considerations. However, at that time, one was in Golombia and the other in Moris City, which made things inconvenient, so nothing transpired between them.
Now that Evelyn chose to come to Golombia, it was like God was helping him.
Evelyn was speechless, thinking to herself, 'Now you remember we're alumni? When you were mocking me before, you didn't seem to think of me as an alum.'
Evelyn chose not to express her thoughts. "I'm sorry, I have other commitments today. Perhaps another time. If I secure the job, there will be many chances to catch up."
"Okay, no problem," Geoffrey replied, feeling a bit let down but not pressing the matter further.
As Evelyn said, if she got the job, they would have plenty of chances to meet.
If Evelyn didn't get the job, he would have to reconsider whether to pursue her.
With that, Evelyn left Golombia Hospital.
Geoffrey watched her back, lost in thought, and turned to leave, only to be startled.
"Lisa, you scared me." Geoffrey patted his chest, genuinely startled by Lisa Moore's sudden appearance behind him.
Lisa was pouted unhappily. "Geoffrey, who was that woman just now?"
"Oh, just an alum," Geoffrey replied.
"Really? You seemed pretty close to her." Lisa was annoyed. She had been getting close to Geoffrey recently, and it was clear he was pursuing her.
Evelyn's unexpected arrival and Geoffrey's demeanor left her bewildered.
Geoffrey, sensing her confusion, gently patted her shoulder to reassure her. "Just an alumnus, don't overthink it."
"Who's overthinking? It's not like we have anything going on," Lisa said arrogantly.
Geoffrey chuckled, deliberately leaning closer, "If there's nothing going on, why are you jealous?"
"Who's jealous? Geoffrey, stop talking nonsense. I haven't agreed to anything yet." Although she thought Geoffrey was very handsome and a doctor, which made them a good match.
But because he was so handsome, there were countless young nurses around him, making her feel insecure.
Geoffrey didn't elaborate further, dismissing it with a laugh. Before Evelyn arrived, Lisa was his top choice. Despite being a nurse, her father held a high-ranking position that could prove beneficial to him in the future.
But now, he had to reconsider.
