Chapter 917 Just Thank Me with Your Words?

Hearing that, Sarah quickly waved her hand. "It's not Evelyn's fault. It's mine. I was too impatient and careless."

She was eager to prove herself and surpass Nolan, which led her into his trap.

Keith didn't say more. He wasn't blaming Evelyn; he was just a bit angry.

After confirming Sarah was okay, Evelyn felt out of place. When she came in, the two were hugging. If she hadn't come...

Evelyn felt intrusive, at least to Keith. His eyes looked sharp when he looked at her.

Evelyn gave an awkward laugh. "Sarah, you should rest. I'll give you a few days off. Don't worry about work or the police station. I'll handle it."

"I'm fine," Sarah started, but Evelyn didn't let her finish. She left with Luke, leaving Sarah and Keith alone.

She hadn't felt awkward before, and she had even cried in Keith's arms, but now she realized how inappropriate it was.

She coughed to ease the tension. "Thank you."

"Thank me for what?" Keith asked.

"For showing up in time. If it weren't for you..." Sarah didn't want to think about the consequences.

Keith looked at her, somewhat resentful. "Since you know Nolan's bad news, why didn't you leave immediately?"

If Sarah had left when Nolan appeared, none of this would have happened. Her lack of vigilance made him suspicious of her feelings towards Nolan.

Sarah opened her mouth but didn't know what to say.

The client wanted her to talk to Nolan. If she left, the deal would have been off, so she had to stay. She didn't expect Nolan to drug her. If Keith hadn't arrived, that jerk would have succeeded.

Thinking of this, she thanked Keith again. "No matter what, thank you."

Keith had been rejected by her so many times, yet he didn't hate her. He even protected her secretly. To say she wasn't moved would be a lie.

"Just thanking me with words?" Keith's face was cold, clearly dissatisfied.

"Then what do you want?" Sarah looked at him, clueless.

Keith lacked nothing. What could she give him?

Keith rolled his eyes, thinking Sarah was really a fool.

Just as Sarah was about to ask again, he pulled her into his arms. She wanted to struggle but heard Keith's voice in her ear. "In front of me, you don't have to pretend to be strong. If you want to cry, just cry."

For some reason, Sarah, who usually didn't cry, teared up when she heard this.

No one had cared for her like this in a long time.

But in the end, she didn't cry and just nestled in Keith's arms, saying nothing.

Evelyn, who had already left the room, didn't know what happened between them. She and Luke went downstairs and walked to the receptionist, knocking on the desk to snap her out of her daze.

Seeing her, the receptionist instinctively trembled. "What is it?"

"Come on. Let's go to the police station," Evelyn said with a smile.

"Why? I told you everything!" The receptionist was agitated, taking several steps back, as if afraid Evelyn would forcibly take her to the police station.
