Chapter 1248 Even If They Are Even

As soon as Alex rolled up to Golombia Hospital, they whisked him straight into surgery.

The past few days had been hell for him, thanks to that gang. Dude was covered in bruises and cuts. It was a miracle he was still kicking.

When Evelyn and Ruby got to the OR door, Dermot was already hanging around.

Craig was also laid up at Golombia, so Dermot had a head start.

"How's he doing?" Evelyn asked, worry all over her face. She was freaked out that something might happen to Alex. Ruby had already decided to tie the knot with him, and if he bit the dust now, it would be brutal.

Dermot tried to calm them down, "Alex is banged up pretty bad, but he's not gonna die. He just needs some time to bounce back."

Both Evelyn and Ruby let out a big sigh of relief.

But Dermot wasn't done. He shot Ruby a cold look, "Ms. Kite, Alex's surgery is gonna take a while. How about you come upstairs with me to see Craig? Maybe you should say sorry to him."

Evelyn went quiet.

She and Dermot both knew the deal. Even though they were a couple, they couldn't meddle too much if their friends messed up, as long as it wasn't over the top.

Like now, Dermot was just asking Ruby to apologize, and Evelyn had no reason to stop him.

But Ruby wasn't having it. "Apologize? No chance."

"If you don't, Craig could sue you for intentional harm. Think about it," Dermot warned.

They all knew that was a long shot.

Even if Craig wanted to go that route, Evelyn wouldn't just sit back and watch.

Ruby didn't care about any of that. She snapped at Dermot, "The crap he put me through is way worse than that stab wound. Did I ever ask him to say sorry?"

"He did apologize to you."

"So what? Does that fix everything?" Ruby yelled at Dermot.

Dermot wanted to argue more, but Evelyn shook her head. "Let's drop it. If Craig really wants to sue Ruby, I won't let him."

No matter what, she had Ruby's back.

Dermot felt stuck. If Evelyn said that, there was no way he could let Craig sue Ruby.

Plus, Craig never planned to sue her anyway. Dermot just wanted Ruby to apologize because, in this mess, Ruby was kinda in the wrong.

Luckily, the stab wound wasn't fatal. If it had been a bit deeper, Craig might be dead by now.

So yeah, Dermot was pissed at Ruby; she almost killed Craig.

Ruby walked to the OR door, ignoring Dermot.

Dermot was ticked off, so Evelyn tried to calm him down, "Ruby messed up, but Craig hurt her a lot too. After this, they can call it even."

"Even?" Dermot frowned.

"Yeah, Craig's always wanted Ruby to move on, right? Tell him Ruby's over it. From now on, they're even, and no one owes anyone anything," Evelyn said.

Then she looked at Ruby by the OR door and asked, "Ruby, you cool with that?"

"Yeah, as long as he stays out of my face." To her, being even meant they were strangers now.

Evelyn nodded and turned to Dermot. "Tell Craig. He'll get it."

Once Craig got the message, he wouldn't go after Ruby for what she did.
