Chapter 251 Let Her Go

Facing Sarah's invitation, Evelyn felt embarrassed. If she hadn't promised Dermot in advance, she would have gladly accepted. But now, it didn't seem right to break her promise.

Seeing her hesitation, Sarah squinted her eyes and looked at her suspiciously. "What's wrong? Do you have planned this afternoon?"

"Not exactly plans, just going to see an exhibition," Evelyn replied, unable to meet Sarah's eyes.

"Well, that's perfect. I'll come with you and see what the latest designs are," Sarah said with interest, as if she could already see through Evelyn.

Evelyn wished she could slap herself. Why did she say she was going to see an exhibition? Couldn't she have just said she wanted to go home and sleep? How can she explain now?

She was in a dilemma, but Sarah looked as though she wanted to laugh. "Forget it, I'll just go by myself so I won't disturb your date."

"Date?" Evelyn was shocked. "There's no such thing, Sarah. Don't make wild guesses."

"Really? Then isn't the person who dropped you off just now Dermot? Aren't you going to the exhibition with him?" Sarah pushed, leaving Evelyn speechless.

She looked at Sarah in embarrassment and reluctantly explained, "It's just an exhibition, not a date."

"Whatever you say." Sarah didn't argue with Evelyn. To her, it was a date anyway.

However, she couldn't help but admire Dermot. Last time Evelyn saw him, she acted so cold towards him. It hadn't been long since then, but he had already managed to win her over. He was quite impressive.

After a few words with Sarah, Evelyn didn't stay in the company any longer. She left, preparing to go downstairs.

Just as she reached the bottom of the company, she spotted Dermot waiting for her not far away. She was about to walk towards him when a car suddenly stopped in front of her.

"Aidan?" Evelyn was surprised to see him.

Aidan got out of the car, not looking very pleased. "I called you, why didn't you answer?"

"Really? Did you call me?" Evelyn was confused and subconsciously took out her phone to check the call records.

It indeed showed a missed call from Aidan, but she hadn't answered it. After a moment of thought, she realized she must have been focused on her drawing at that time, and her phone was on silent, so she didn't hear it.

"I'm sorry, Aidan. I was working on a design and didn't hear my phone." She apologized, feeling quite embarrassed.

But this didn't seem to improve Aidan's mood. Instead, he felt even more upset because of her apology. "Evelyn, when did we become so distant?"

It had only been one night, but he suddenly felt that there was a huge distance between him and Evelyn, to the point where they were almost strangers.

"No, Aidan. You're thinking too much," Evelyn dared not look into Aidan's eyes.

But Aidan didn't let it go. He grabbed her wrist. "Evelyn, do you no longer want me as your brother?"

Evelyn bit her lip, not knowing how to respond. Of course, she wants to, but she can't pretend like nothing happened. "Aidan, you hurt me," Evelyn wanted to break free, but was unsuccessful. It wasn't that she couldn't really break free, but she didn't want to argue with Aidan.

"Let her go," Dermot's voice came, and in the blink of an eye, he was standing in front of Evelyn, protecting her, his gaze fixed on Aidan. Aidan watched this scene, his heart aching as if stabbed, "Evelyn is my sister! I was talking to her; I don't need you to interfere." If it weren't for Evelyn being present, he would have already told Dermot to leave.
