Chapter 985: You're Looking for Me Because
"How many people do you know who end up with their first love?" Even Dermot, who thought he was pretty committed, hadn't gotten there with Evelyn.
Being together for a long time doesn't always mean marriage; it can lead to a lot of fights.
Evelyn agreed. "Yeah, you're right. Aidan and I rushed things."
"Niall's less mature than you. The more you push him away, the more he's drawn to that woman. It's like a rebellious phase. When you talk to him, focus on what happened with Aidan and don't discourage him too much," Dermot suggested.
Evelyn nodded. "Got it."
As they talked, the car pulled into the apartment complex. They got into the elevator, and Evelyn was still thinking about what to say to Niall.
She and Aidan initially wanted Niall to give up on Lily. But after hearing Dermot and recalling Aidan's tone on the phone, she wasn't so sure.
If she tried to stop him, Niall might argue with her.
Even though they were close, Evelyn knew arguments could be hurtful. She wanted to avoid that.
"We're here," Dermot's words snapped her back to reality.
Evelyn came to her senses, stepped out of the elevator, and opened her apartment door. "You should get some rest."
"Okay, if you need anything, just knock. I'll be here," Dermot said with a smile, trying to ease her tension.
He knew how much Evelyn valued her relationship with Niall and didn't want to argue with him, so he gave her some advice.
Evelyn thanked him and went inside to wait for Niall.
Half an hour later, Niall knocked on Evelyn's door.
"Hey," Evelyn opened the door, relieved to see he was alone. She had worried he might bring Lily.
Luckily, he didn't.
This was Niall's first time at Evelyn's place, and he was a bit surprised. "This place is so small. Why don't you live at Kyte Manor?"
"I'm alone, so it doesn't matter. This place is close to the hospital, which is convenient for work," Evelyn explained.
Niall sat down, and Evelyn poured him a glass of water. "Aidan told me you moved out. Where are you living now?"
"I bought a place near the office. It's convenient for work," Niall replied.
If he weren't with Lily, he'd probably be living with Aidan. But now that he had a girlfriend, living with Aidan was inconvenient.
That was his thought when he first moved out. Now, it's even more so since Aidan doesn't agree with him being with Lily.
Evelyn nodded, sipping her water, carefully considering how to start the conversation.
Niall glanced at her and smiled helplessly. "Evelyn, you called me here because of Lily, didn't you?"
Evelyn was taken aback, then nodded. "Yeah, did you and Aidan have a fight?"
"Yeah, he wants me to break up with Lily, but I can't do that." After all these years, he had finally met a girl he liked. How could Niall let her go so easily?
"Did you read the info Aidan showed you?" Evelyn asked.
Niall nodded. "I did. Although Lily has made some mistakes, I believe everyone makes mistakes. I don't care."
