Chapter 54 We Are Even
Seeing him speak so firmly, Evelyn felt that she should make things clear as well.
She looked at Keith, her expression calm. "I don't think Mr. Kartland needs a friend like me."
She still called him Mr. Kartland, showing her distance.
Keith's expression changed, but before he could speak, Evelyn continued, "I don't want to get involved in the grievances between you and Dermot. So after this meal, we are even."
She was implying that after this meal, he shouldn't come looking for her anymore.
Keith was speechless, and as a result, his expression became very unpleasant. "Are you sure? It’s not a good choice to piss me off."
"Mr. Kartland is joking. I have no intention of offending you. I just don't want to be used as a pawn," she replied with a smile.
"I'm not familiar with Dermot, and I really don't understand the grievances between you and him. Why should I be involved?" She genuinely couldn't understand.
Keith stared at her and couldn't see any signs of lying in her eyes.
It seems that she really didn't feel Dermot's unusual feelings towards her.
After thinking for a moment, he quickly smiled, "Who told you that I approached you because of Dermot?"
"Isn't it?" she asked in return. When Dermot told her, it didn't seem like a joke.
"Of course not," Keith shook his head, "You're so outstanding. It's only natural for me to be attracted to you."
Evelyn frowned. Once again, Keith was smiling, making it hard to tell if it was a joke.
"Dermot has a grudge against me. Don't pay attention to him," Keith said.
"You and Dermot..." she subconsciously wanted to ask, but quickly stopped herself. The grievances between them had nothing to do with her.
Keith didn't mind her question either, smiling and saying, "The past between us, we were both victims."
However, he still wouldn't forgive the Doyle family.
If it wasn't for the person from the Doyle family, he wouldn't have been tormented for so many years.
Evelyn didn't ask any further, as it had nothing to do with her in the first place.
"Are you not interested in Dermot?" he suddenly asked, filled with curiosity.
Evelyn was speechless, then shook her head, "No."
Keith laughed, very happily.
Dermot, oh Dermot, for the first time in so many years, I've seen you care about a woman. Unfortunately, she's not interested in you.
His mood was extremely good.
"Forget about him. Have you never considered me?" he asked again.
Evelyn was even more speechless.
Just as she was about to refuse, she heard Keith say, "Don't reject me so quickly. At least give me a chance. Let's take it slow and see. Maybe one day you'll find that I'm not so bad."
He said this, and Evelyn didn't know what else to say, so she casually dismissed it and stopped talking.
After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant.
"Are you full?" Keith asked.
Evelyn nodded. Keith ordered a few light dishes afterward. She was quite full.
No matter what, she had a good impression of Keith during this meal.
He knows how to admit his mistakes, unlike Dermot. He doesn't even know how much better he is.
Wait, why was she comparing him to Dermot?
"Shall I drive you home?" Keith asked.
"Okay." Evelyn nodded and was about to get into the car when she caught a glimpse of the black phantom on the opposite side, causing her body to freeze.
Sensing her unusual reaction, Keith also looked in the same direction.
"Oh, isn't that Dermot?" Keith smiled and deliberately raised his eyebrow at Dermot, provoking him.
The phantom's window closed quickly, and the car soon disappeared into the traffic.
Evelyn felt a little guilty, feeling like she was caught in the act.
Wait, why was she feeling guilty?
She has nothing to do with Dermot!
With this in mind, she calmly got into Keith's car, suppressing the uneasy feeling in her heart.
