Chapter 1087: I Don't Want You to Be Unhappy
"I've been tracking Dr. Gray these past few days and finally found him," Brandon said, making Evelyn's eyes light up.
"Really? You found him?" she asked, surprised.
"Yeah, but he's in Ameriland and doesn't want to come here," Brandon replied. Leon had just left and didn't want to come back, which made sense.
Evelyn nodded. "Have you contacted him? Will he treat Joshua?"
Considering Joshua had previously refused him, and now they were asking for help, Dr. Gray might refuse since he's a renowned doctor.
"Dr. Gray is willing to treat Mr. Garcia, but we have to go to his hospital in Ameriland," Brandon explained.
Evelyn thought it over. "Then let's go. We shouldn't miss this chance."
"Evelyn, will you come with me?" Joshua asked nervously.
"Of course, I promised to take care of you," she said, blinking. She was eager for Joshua to get treatment.
"Dr. Gray reviewed the case and said my condition won't improve quickly. We'll need to stay in Ameriland for a while. How do you feel about that?" Joshua asked, worried.
If it were short-term, he wouldn't be so concerned, but long-term was uncertain.
Evelyn's face showed concern. She had a job and family here and had grown up in Libertonia. Going abroad without knowing when she'd return made her uneasy.
A month or two would be fine, but what if it was a year or more?
Just thinking about it scared Evelyn.
Seeing her silence, Joshua's eyes dimmed. "It's alright, Evelyn. If you're not up for it, we can skip it. I'm content with how things are now."
"Mr. Garcia, this is your only chance!" Brandon said, unhappy.
"Enough!" Joshua interrupted. "I can't be selfish. This is Evelyn's home. How can I force her to leave with me?"
Brandon pouted, clearly unhappy.
"Joshua, how about you get treated there, and I'll visit whenever I can?" Evelyn suggested.
Joshua gave a bitter smile. "Evelyn, it's fine if you find it amusing, but since the accident, I've felt life's futility. Without you, I might have given up."
"Joshua," Evelyn said, shocked.
"It's okay, Evelyn. With you here, I'm ready to face anything, even if it means being in a wheelchair for life." His only wish was for Evelyn to stay by his side.
Evelyn sighed. "Let me think about it."
"Evelyn, please don't push yourself. Your happiness matters to me," Joshua said as she left.
Outside the hospital room, she took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the situation.
Brandon came out and looked at Evelyn. "Ms. Kyte, I know I have no right to ask, but since Mr. Garcia's accident, he's been very depressed. If this continues, he might not hold on much longer."
"So, I'm begging you, please go to Ameriland with him. Maybe he'll recover quickly, and then you won't have to worry anymore, right?" Brandon added.
