Chapter 47 She Has Been Married

"Get to the point," Dermot rubbed his forehead and leaned back on the sofa, waiting for Craig to speak.

On the other end of the phone, Craig made a sound before speaking, "Her name is Evelyn. She grew up in a place called Peach Blossom Village in Jincheng, but despite growing up in a village, she was a top student. I found out that she skipped grades from an early age, graduated with a PhD at the age of 22, then went abroad for two more years of study before returning to China."

"Evelyn? Why does that name sound familiar?" Dermot pondered but couldn't remember where he had heard it.

"And then?" Dermot stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the pitch-black night outside, lost in thought.

"And then?" Craig's voice rose, somewhat teasingly. "After returning to China, not only did she not work, but she disappeared completely from the public eye. Care to guess where she went?"

Dermot naturally couldn't guess, but he vaguely thought that the reason he couldn't find Evelyn's whereabouts earlier was because she suddenly disappeared.

"Where did she go?" he asked.

"She got married," Craig said.

Dermot's eyebrows furrowed at once, "Married?"

"Yes, I found out that she registered her marriage at the Civil Affairs Bureau," Craig replied.

After a while, Craig didn't hear Dermot's reaction and became a little bored. "You don't have any reaction to hearing that she got married?"

"What should my reaction be?" Dermot questioned, his eyes as black as ink, making it impossible to see the bottom.

"Aren't you feeling disappointed?" Craig asked him.

Dermot didn't answer. He didn't know what his reaction should be at this moment. Was he disappointed? Maybe a little. He was just surprised; what kind of man would a woman like her marry?

"Boring." Craig rolled his eyes over the phone and then said, "You don't have to be too disappointed. I found out that she got divorced a while ago."

"Divorced?" Dermot's reaction was a bit big this time, truly surprised.

"I finally heard a change in your tone. I thought you really didn't care," Craig became interested. He almost thought he had wasted his time.

Dermot, however, wasn't in the mood to waste time with him and went straight to the point, "What happened? Tell me more details."

"How should I know why she got divorced? The Civil Affairs Bureau only shows that she got divorced," Craig said, speechless. It wasn't easy for him to find out all this information, especially given Evelyn's identity.

This made Dermot's mood very complicated. He really hadn't expected it to end up like this.

Divorce...

It was hard to tell that the woman had gone through marriage and divorce. He was curious about what kind of man was so careless after getting her.

"Who did she marry?" he subconsciously asked.

This time, Craig on the other end of the phone fell silent and his tone became more serious, "What really surprised me was that I couldn't find the other party's identity at all."

"What do you mean?"

"I found out that Evelyn had been married and divorced, but I completely couldn't find out who she had married," he said.

The atmosphere suddenly became much heavier. They both knew what this meant. If even Craig couldn't find out, it meant that the other party's identity was very complicated, and their strength might even surpass his.

"It seems that the person's identity is not simple," Dermot exclaimed after a moment's thought.

Thinking about it, if someone could marry a woman like Evelyn, how could they be a simple person?

"Huh, no matter how complicated his identity is, I can still find him one day," he was completely stimulated by curiosity and would investigate this matter no matter what.
