Chapter 398 Troublesome

"Aidan?"
Not getting a response from Aidan all this while, Evelyn felt a little uneasy.
Could it be that Aidan really knows something?

Aidan on the other end of the phone seemed to snap out of it and quickly said, "Maybe it's not as complicated as you think. He's just interested in you."

"But..."
"Evelyn, don't overthink it. What you need to do now is rest well, okay?" Aidan's tone was gentle, filled with concern, easily soothing Evelyn's uneasy emotions.

Evelyn sighed and replied, "I know."
"Well, then get some rest quickly. It must be late at night on your side." After bidding her goodnight, Aidan hung up the phone.
Evelyn lay on the bed, thinking about the call Aidan just made. Already unable to sleep, she now had even less sleepiness.

The next day, at the Doyle Group.
Todd knocked on the door and handed over breakfast. "Mr. Doyle, you can't keep sleeping in the rest area."

He had known that their CEO was a workaholic, but at least back then, he would still go back to Barberts Apartment to rest at night. But now...

Dermot raised his head and looked at the breakfast Todd placed in front of him, without saying a word.

He didn't want to rest here either, but upon careful consideration, it seemed like this was the only option.

He didn't want to go to Doyal Mansion, and Doyle Manor was too far from the company. As for Barberts Apartment, Evelyn was there. After pondering, staying in the office seemed more suitable, and it would also facilitate his work.

"Mr. Doyle, the chairman will be holding a board meeting today," Todd reminded.
If Benjamin called for a board meeting at this time, it definitely wouldn't be good news.

Dermot simply acknowledged with a sound, seemingly unconcerned. Todd looked a bit anxious. If Benjamin said something unfavorable to Mr. Doyle during the board meeting, wouldn't that be terrible?

Dermot didn't know what he was thinking and when he saw that Todd was still there, he raised his gaze and asked, "Is there anything else?"

"No," Todd shook his head.
"She..." Dermot opened his mouth, wanting to ask what Evelyn was doing, but in the end, he only said the word "she." Shaking his head, he waved at Todd. "Go on, get busy."

Todd turned and walked towards the door. After taking a few steps, he stopped and said to Dermot, "Everything seems normal on Ms. Kyte's side. There doesn't appear to be anything strange."

Dermot paused for a moment, then glared at him, "Meddler."
Todd chuckled twice. While their CEO claimed not to care, he knew deep down that it wasn't true. If it weren't for Benjamin's appearance and the fear of it being detrimental to Evelyn, how could he have possibly broken up with her?

Todd left, and Dermot looked at the breakfast in front of him, but he had lost all appetite.
Nothing strange?

To Dermot, this was actually the worst situation.
How he wished Evelyn would feel a little sad. At least then, he could be sure that she still had feelings for him.

But now...
In his view, it seemed uncertain.

Unable to help but smile wryly, he didn't know what he was supposed to do or should do, he just felt that it was meaningless.
It was as if all the perseverance he had shown had become meaningless, everything he did was meaningless...

She couldn't possibly know Dermot's thoughts about the hospital.
At this moment, she had just finished a surgery and had a smile on her face, realizing that as long as she focused on her work, especially on the operating table, she had no worries at all.

"Eve, you look... fine." Marina had also heard about their breakup and had wanted to show concern, but no matter how she looked at Evelyn, she didn't seem like someone who needed caring.

Evelyn knew very well what she was thinking, so she said, "In this world, nothing is too serious. Just be true to yourself and have a clear conscience."
