Chapter 1047: Are You Worthy

"Mr. Morris, you sure know how to talk," Craig sneered, shooting a cold look at him, clearly annoyed.

Alex just chuckled, unfazed.

He knew Craig didn't like him, but he didn't care. He didn't like Craig either.

On the other side of the table, the girls were much more relaxed. Ruby was asking Sarah and Keith about their lives, her eyes showing a hint of envy.

"Back in Morris City, I thought he was a playboy, but now he seems different," Ruby sighed, thinking a good relationship could really change someone.

Sarah blushed a bit, feeling embarrassed. "It's not as dramatic as you think. He's pretty much the same."

If anything had changed, it was Keith's clinginess. He insisted on coming with her to spend New Year's Eve with Evelyn, just like he always showed up in front of her almost every day.

"Sarah, you're blushing!" Ruby giggled. She always saw Sarah as career-driven, but with Keith, she had become gentler.

"Ruby, stop teasing me. How about you tell us about your guy?" Sarah quickly changed the subject, shyly.

Ruby glanced at Alex. "Nothing special; we're just friends."

"Just friends?" Sarah was skeptical.

Who brings just a friend to a party like this?

Ruby cleared her throat. "For now, we're just friends."

As for the future, Ruby wasn't sure.

"Oh, I get it. Just friends for now, but who knows?" Sarah laughed, catching Ruby's drift.

Ruby smiled, feeling a bit flustered but didn't confirm or deny it.

Lydia was stunned. Did Ruby already like someone else? So soon?

If Ruby liked someone else, what about Craig?

She glanced at Craig. As expected, he looked upset.

She felt sad. This should be good for her. If Ruby liked someone else, Craig might give up, and she'd have a chance.

But seeing Craig's dark face, she didn't feel as happy as she thought she would.

Maybe she still wanted Craig to be happy.

She saw Craig get up and head to the restroom, so she followed, intending to comfort him.

Before she reached the restroom, Craig noticed her. He turned around, frowning. "Why are you following me?"

"I just wanted to comfort you," Lydia said sincerely. "Ruby's interested in someone else. Don't take it too hard. You've still got me."

"You? Do you think you compare to her?" Craig sneered, not sparing her feelings.

Lydia's face turned pale. "I know you don't like me, but I won't give up."

"Foolish!" Craig sneered and walked into the restroom.

Lydia stood there, watching him disappear, feeling a pang of sorrow.
