Chapter 1210: Long Time No See
Evelyn was chewing over what Dermot had said. Was he really not into Cassie?
"Evelyn, why you still doubting me?" Dermot said, sounding kinda frustrated. Hadn't he done enough to prove himself?
Evelyn felt a bit awkward. She cleared her throat, "I just feel annoyed. I thought after dealing with Nathaniel, we could chill for a bit. Who knew Cassie would pop up now?"
She couldn't deny she liked Dermot, and she definitely didn't want other chicks hanging around him, especially Cassie.
"Don't sweat it. Cassie doesn't matter to us. We don't need to stress about her." To Dermot, Cassie was a non-issue.
Evelyn took a deep breath, realizing she might be overthinking things.
Dermot pulled her close and whispered, "No one's coming between us again."
"I just want some peace," Evelyn mumbled.
"I get it. Don't worry, what you're scared of won't happen." Cassie didn't mess with their relationship before, and she sure wouldn't now.
Evelyn didn't say anything else. She hoped things would go the way Dermot said.
In a villa on the outskirts of Golombia, Nathaniel looked like death warmed over. The doc had just finished surgery on him, and he was just waking up.
"What's going on outside?" Nathaniel asked.
"Mr. Flores, we got a problem. The cops are on our tail," his guy replied.
Nathaniel's face darkened, and he stayed quiet.
"Mr. Flores, should we head back to Seabrook City?" Seabrook was their turf, and even the cops wouldn't mess with them there.
But in Golombia, they had no pull.
Nathaniel frowned and finally spoke, "You think I'm scared of them?"
"Mr. Flores..."
"Get Oscar to come to Golombia," Nathaniel ordered, cutting him off.
He hadn't managed to grab Bella this time, but he wasn't giving up. She was his wife, and if Bella had to go down, it would be by his hand.
His guy didn't say anything else, but he was worried. He had a bad feeling that this was gonna end badly.
At the hospital, Evelyn was doing her usual thing.
Dermot had convinced her to ignore Cassie's return, but she hadn't expected Cassie to come to her.
"Dr. Kyte, long time no see." In the clinic, Evelyn saw Cassie.
She looked her over. Since joining the Bush family, Cassie's look and vibe had changed a lot.
Evelyn smiled and asked, "Ms. Bush, what's up?"
"Dr. Kyte, looks like Dermot told you everything." Cassie sighed. "Honestly, it doesn't matter if I'm Cassie Ackers or Cassie Bush, you know? I'm still the same person inside."
Evelyn put down her pen. No patients were waiting, so she was down to chat with Cassie for a bit.
"Of course, there's a difference," Evelyn said with a smile.
"If you were Cassie Ackers, you'd always be the sister of Dermot's savior in his eyes. But now you're Cassie Bush, and your brother's still alive. So, what do you think your status is in Dermot's heart now?"
Evelyn added, "I think Dermot doesn't care about who you are but how your brother played him back then."
No one liked being played. Evelyn felt that way, and so did Dermot.
