Chapter 863 Do You Think I Want to See You
Evelyn was about to pull out her phone when a gift box appeared in front of her. She looked up to see Joshua grinning. "This is for you. Hope you like it."
"Joshua, you really didn't have to," Evelyn said, trying to push the box back.
But Joshua wouldn't budge, even pretending to be upset. "Aidan buys you all sorts of stuff, and you don't say no. I'm just giving you a small gift, and you reject it. Do you even see me as your brother?"
Evelyn was at a loss for words. If she kept refusing, it would seem like she didn't consider Joshua family.
But she really didn't want to accept gifts from him.
"It’s like I don’t matter to you," Joshua said, acting like he was about to take the gift back, looking all disappointed.
Feeling guilty, Evelyn quickly took the box. "How could you say that? I just don’t want you wasting money on me."
"Don’t worry. I can afford this," Joshua said, smiling as she accepted the gift.
"Open it up," Joshua urged. He had bought it secretly while Evelyn and Aidan were shopping, thinking it was perfect for her.
Evelyn opened the box to find a high-quality bracelet inside. It was inlaid with emeralds and felt way too valuable.
Seeing her hesitation, Joshua asked, "Well? Do you like it?"
"Yes, it's beautiful," she admitted. It was gorgeous and clearly expensive.
But now that she had accepted it, refusing would probably just upset Joshua.
Evelyn decided to comfort herself by planning to give him a nice gift in return later.
Meanwhile, in the restroom, Aidan's face darkened.
"When did you get back?" Aidan asked Phoebe, barely containing his anger.
Phoebe, looking down and a bit scared, replied softly, "Yesterday."
"Back yesterday and already stalking me today? Didn't I make myself clear before?" He couldn't believe Phoebe had the nerve to show up.
Phoebe shook her head, feeling wronged. "I wasn't stalking you."
"Really?" Aidan found that hard to believe.
"Really, I was just shopping and didn't expect to see you here," she explained.
Aidan pressed, "Shopping? Alone?"
"No, with others," Phoebe said.
"Who?" Aidan demanded, wanting to verify her story.
But Phoebe didn't want to answer. She finally looked up at Aidan, her emotions mixed. "Does it matter to you? If you hadn't blocked me, we wouldn't have met today."
"Do you think I want to see you?" If he could, he would never see Phoebe again.
Phoebe's sudden appearance brought back unpleasant memories, making Aidan even more agitated.
Phoebe felt a pang in her heart but kept a calm face. "Then I'll leave."
Aidan didn't stop her. Whether she was stalking him or just shopping, he would find out.
If she were stalking him, he wouldn't forgive her easily. He'd make sure she left Libertonia and never crossed his path again.
