Chapter 1194: I Want to Meet in Person
Oscar kept his mouth shut, face all serious. To Nathaniel, it might look like he was deep in thought, but inside, Oscar was freaking out.
Oscar thought, 'What the heck is going on? Why drag me into the Flores family drama? Does Nathaniel know something?'
"You got a ton of people working for you, why make me babysit her?" Oscar acted all annoyed.
"You're my son. The Flores family will be yours someday. You need to start getting involved. Consider this a test," Nathaniel said.
Truth is, Nathaniel didn't trust anyone outside the Flores family with Bella.
After mulling it over, Oscar seemed like his only option.
Oscar stayed cool, but inside he was laughing.
If he didn't know Nathaniel had a bunch of illegitimate kids, he might've bought it today.
But he did know.
So when Nathaniel said he'd hand over the Flores family to him, Oscar didn't buy it.
Still, he didn't call out the lie. "You know Evelyn wants to take Bella away. If you leave, they'll definitely make a move."
"Think you can't handle them?" Nathaniel frowned, looking annoyed.
"Of course not!" Oscar quickly denied, "I'm just worried the losses will be too big, and you'll find a reason to punish me."
"Don't sweat it. This time, just keep Bella locked up in this mansion, no matter what, I won't blame you." If he didn't have to deal with some stuff, he wouldn't leave Seabrook City right now.
Oscar seemed to relax. "Alright, I'll do my best."
"Don't let me down," Nathaniel reminded him.
Oscar didn't say anything, just sneered inside, thinking Nathaniel was nuts.
After leaving Nathaniel's mansion, Oscar immediately called Evelyn. "You're in luck. Nathaniel's leaving Seabrook City tomorrow and put me in charge of watching Bella. This is your best shot."
"Luck? Nah, if he's leaving now, there's gotta be a reason," Evelyn chuckled, never buying into good luck.
"Did you make him leave?" Oscar asked, putting the pieces together.
Evelyn didn't answer directly. "The plan's set for tomorrow. Once we confirm Nathaniel's on the plane, we'll come get her."
"If you take Bella, what am I supposed to tell Nathaniel?" Oscar asked, still uneasy.
"Don't worry, I won't leave you hanging," Evelyn reassured him. "By the way, tomorrow you can have some of Nathaniel's guys guard her. If something goes wrong, it won't all fall on you. Plus, I've got some backup for you."
Evelyn didn't specify what it was, just told Oscar to chill.
Honestly, Oscar couldn't chill.
But from the day he teamed up with Evelyn, he knew there was no turning back. Now he could only keep going, hoping Evelyn would keep her word and not ditch him.
After hanging up, Evelyn made another call. "Got the person?"
"Good, bring them to the villa. I wanna meet them personally," Evelyn said.
She wasn't kidding when she told Oscar she had backup. As long as Oscar played it smart, even if Nathaniel found out, he wouldn't really do anything to him. He'd just think they were too clever.
