Chapter 1148 Cassie's Letter

At the dinner table, the three of them were munching and chatting away. Out of nowhere, Henry had a lightbulb moment and waved Bruce over. Bruce leaned in, and Henry whispered something in his ear. Bruce took off but was back in a flash.

Evelyn was caught off guard when she saw Bruce holding a letter.

"Just remembered something. After you moved to Golombia, a letter showed up at Doyle Mansion. It's from Cassie," Henry said. He hadn't cracked it open and hadn't planned on giving it to Dermot before. He was mostly worried about Evelyn and Dermot's relationship.

But now, Henry figured there was no need to stress. Their bond was way stronger than he thought.

So, he decided to hand over the letter to Dermot. After all, it was addressed to him. Even though he was Dermot's grandpa, he had no right to keep it from him.

Hearing Cassie's name, Evelyn's heart did a little flip.

Dermot was also caught off guard but took the letter and opened it.

Evelyn, sitting across from Dermot, saw him frown and felt a bit uneasy. What could Cassie possibly want to say to Dermot? Was she up to her old tricks again?

Even though Dermot had explained that he only saw Cassie as a sister, Evelyn couldn't shake off the unease.

Probably because she once thought that Dermot didn't come to see her during their two years of marriage because of Cassie.

Even though it was later cleared up, some things just stick with you.

"What did she say?" Evelyn asked instinctively as Dermot put down the letter.

Dermot had no intention of hiding anything and casually handed the letter over. "She said she's coming back."

Evelyn was stunned. Her worst fears were coming true.

However, she managed to keep her cool and took the letter, glancing at it.

The letter was simple. Cassie asked how Dermot was doing and mentioned that her studies abroad were done and she was planning to return.

She didn't buy for a second that Cassie hadn't been keeping tabs on them while she was abroad. If she had, she would know that they were together now. Writing a letter at this time – had she forgotten why she was sent away in the first place?

If it weren't for Dermot back then, Evelyn would have made sure Cassie ended up behind bars.

She had let it go for Dermot's sake, but how dare Cassie show up again?

Evelyn handed the letter back to Dermot, saying coldly, "I don't care if she's coming back or whatever, but let me make one thing clear. If she dares to mess with me again, I won't let her off. Even if you send her abroad again, I'll chase her down and bring her back."

And if Dermot dared to do that again, it would definitely mess with their relationship.

Seeing Evelyn's serious expression, Dermot couldn't help but laugh. "What are you thinking? I sent her away, I've paid my dues. Whether she comes back or not, it's none of my business."

He had no intention of replying to the letter and didn't care about Cassie.

Even though Leonard had saved his life, Dermot had already done enough for Cassie over the years. He felt he didn't owe Leonard anything anymore.

If Cassie came back and dared to mess with Evelyn, Dermot wouldn't just stand by and watch. He'd even help Evelyn put her behind bars.

He wouldn't let anyone mess with his relationship with Evelyn.
