Chapter 13
The cooperation between the Doyle Group and the Kite Group had always been going smoothly. Todd didn't know why Dermot suddenly suspended it.
"Sure." Dermot nodded and threw a document toward Todd. "We will cooperate with the Ackers family in the future."
The Ackers family?
Shocked, Todd picked up the file and glanced at it. He immediately understood what was going on.
It turned out that Cassie's family came to ask for this cooperation. And it seemed that the Kite family just became victims.
"They're downstairs..."
"Send them away. I don't have time for them."
"OK."
As night fell, the employees of the Doyle Group had already left. But they still didn't see Dermot.
"Evelyn, do you think Dermot has made up his mind to let Dad's company go bankrupt?" Ruby looked worried.
"We'll find a way to help." Evelyn was also worried. But she had to stay calm for both of them.
Just as they were talking, she suddenly saw Todd coming out of the elevator and rushed over immediately.
"Mr. Angelo," she shouted. Todd had been to the hospital once. So she recognized him as Dermot's assistant.
Hearing Evelyn's cry, Todd looked at her and said apologetically before she could speak, "Dr. Kyte, go home with Ms. Kite. Mr. Doyle won't see you."
"Why?" Evelyn didn't understand and asked, "Even if Ruby offended him, she should have a chance to apologize."
"It's not because of Ms. Kite," Todd said.
"What's the reason?" she asked, feeling that the problem was more complicated than she thought.
Todd didn't reply. As an assistant, he knew when to keep his mouth shut.
"I see." Realizing that Todd would not tell her, she changed the subject. "At least tell us about Dermot's next itinerary."
Todd remained silent. Seeing this, Evelyn was annoyed and said coldly, "Although Ms. Ackers has been discharged from the hospital, there is no guarantee that she won't relapse in the future. Are you sure that Dermot won't need my help again?"
"Mr. Doyle will leave the company in half an hour to meet with clients. The meeting is likely to end very late. You probably won't have a chance to see him today." Todd didn't want to tell her. But he also knew that what Evelyn said was true.
Evelyn frowned, feeling extremely anxious, and couldn't help asking, "Where is he going to meet clients?"
She could go and wait for him there. In this case, Dermot couldn't avoid seeing her.
"Dr. Kyte, forget it." Todd couldn't bear it and whispered to her, "Even if you go to Mr. Doyle, it won't change anything. The decision is made."
Evelyn was stunned.
Dermot.
Did he really want the Kite family to go bankrupt?
Ruby offended Dermot because of her. She was the cause of this crisis. So, she had to find a way to solve it. But she couldn't even see Dermot. Judging from what Todd said, even if they saw Dermot, he would not let the Kite family off the hook.
After a moment of contemplation, Evelyn made a decision.
Turning around and walking back to Ruby, she said, "Let's go. I have an idea."
"Really?" Ruby asked.
"Yes."
Soon, they left the Doyle Group. Evelyn asked Ruby to go home and wait for news, while she called Bruce, the housekeeper of the Doyal Mansion.
Dermot refused to let the Kite family off the hook, so she could only ask Randy for help. No matter what, she had to save the Kite family.
"Ms. Kyte?" Bruce was surprised. He didn't expect Evelyn to call him.
"Bruce, how is Randy recently? I want to come by and see him." She said, feeling very uneasy, wondering if Randy would still help her after her divorce from Dermot.
Randy was sitting not far away. Bruce looked at Randy and asked in a low voice, "It's Ms. Kyte. She said she wanted to come and see you."
"Sure. Tell her to come over." Randy was surprised and nodded with a smile.
Bruce repeated it to Evelyn. After hanging up, he asked curiously, "Mr. Doyle, didn't you invite Mr. Dermot to come back for dinner tonight? Now you told Ms. Kyte to come over. They're..."
"They divorced. What's the big deal? They can still be friends," Randy smiled. It was the first time he had dinner with them both.
Evelyn didn't know Randy's plan. So after hanging up, she took a taxi and rushed to the Doyal Mansion.
At the same time, Dermot also finished work.
"Are they gone?" he asked, his voice voided of emotions.
"Yes," Todd replied, sneaking a glance at Dermot. Why did he feel that Dermot seemed to be upset by the answer?
Dermot didn't speak again. Todd took the opportunity to ask, "The Doyal Mansion called to ask how long you were gonna take. Are you going to meet the clients first or go back to the Doyal Mansion first?"
"Let's go to the Doyal Mansion." Dermot stood up and walked out of the office.
When Evelyn arrived at the Doyal Mansion, Bruce was already waiting for her at the door. "Ms. Kyte, welcome."
"Hello. Where's Randy?" she asked with a smile.
"Mr. Doyle is already waiting for you inside." Bruce politely led Evelyn in.
In the living room, Randy beamed instantly when Evelyn walked through the door. "You heartless girl. Takes you long enough to visit me."
"I'm sorry, Randy. I'm ashamed to see you." Because Randy was too kind to her. After divorcing Dermot, she dared not come to see him.
"Don't say that. I'm still your family after the divorce," Randy said. "You should visit me more in the future."
"Okay, I will definitely come here more in the future." Evelyn nodded, but she was afraid to meet Randy's eyes as she didn't know how to bring up the Kite family.
After hesitating for a while, she finally plucked up the courage. "Randy, actually, I came here today because I have something..."
Before Evelyn could finish her words, there was a screeching sound of tires coming from the door. Her head snapped up, and panic flashed in her eyes.
Could she be so unlucky?
"Is that him?" Randy asked Bruce. He was mad at Dermot for not cherishing Evelyn. She was such a good girl. Dermot was stupid.
"I think Mr. Dermot is here. Let me check." Bruce walked out the door.
"I neglected to tell you that Dermot would come back. You won't blame me, right?" Randy smiled and looked at Evelyn. He was excited for the three of them sitting together for dinner as it'd be the first time in so many years.
With a heavy heart, Evelyn smiled dryly, "No, Of course not."
Her head was spinning as she cried inwardly, 'Isn't Dermot going to see a client? Why did he come to the Doyal Mansion?
'It was so sudden. I'm not ready for this!'
Evelyn stared at the door, her hands sweating uncontrollably. She took several deep breaths, but she still couldn't calm herself down.
Were they going to meet?
