Chapter 1114: He's Just Bewitched by You
Evelyn didn't give a damn about Mary's plan.
In this joint, she knew as long as Joshua had her back, she'd be alright.
But still, she wasn't planning on sticking around; she wanted out.
Problem was, Evelyn had no clue how to bounce.
Maybe she just had to wait for Dermot to swoop in and get her.
Next door, in Joshua's study, Brandon had just managed to chill Mary out when Joshua called him in.
"Mr. Garcia." Brandon pushed the door open and saw Joshua at his desk, looking all kinds of stressed.
Joshua looked up when he heard the door. "Notice anything weird on the way back today?"
"Nope," Brandon said.
Joshua felt something was off. It had been two weeks; even if Dermot and his crew had no pull overseas, they should've figured out where he was by now.
"Get someone to check if Dermot's still in the country," Joshua ordered. He just wanted to know where Dermot was hiding.
Brandon nodded and left.
After he was gone, Joshua sat there, sighing, "Evelyn, what do I gotta do to make you wanna stay here?"
For the next couple of days, Evelyn was still stuck on the island, no way to leave, and no way to hit up Dermot.
She was freaking out.
And to make things worse, Joshua was busier than ever. She had no idea what he was up to, but she was scared he'd find out where Dermot was. This was Joshua's turf, after all.
Just when she was stressing about whether she should try to get to Danista, Mary showed up.
"Spill it, how much cash do you need to ditch Joshua?" Mary couldn't hold it in anymore. Despite Joshua's warnings not to mess with Evelyn, she couldn't stand seeing them together every day.
Mary knew if she didn't act fast, she'd lose her shot.
Evelyn was stunned.
How much money?
Clearly, Mary had no clue who Evelyn really was.
Evelyn figured that made sense; with Joshua being so secretive, he wouldn't let anyone know who she was.
Mary had no idea what Evelyn was thinking. Seeing her stay quiet, Mary thought she was being stuck-up. "Evelyn! Joshua doesn't really like you. He's just got a temporary thing for you. Once he snaps out of it, you won't get squat."
"You want me to leave Joshua?" Evelyn asked.
"Of course! You're not good enough for him." Mary nodded without a second thought. Duh, why else would she be saying all this?
Evelyn lowered her head, thought for a sec, then looked up at Mary, seeing her as a way out.
But she tried to play it cool. "Really? But Joshua's really into me."
"Joshua doesn't like you! He's just got a thing for you right now!" Mary couldn't accept the truth.
"Really? So, he likes you then?" Evelyn pretended to be all confused and asked on purpose.
Mary's eyes darted around, then she nodded. "Yeah, you're right. Joshua actually likes me. We just had a fight recently, so he found you to make me jealous."
"Really? That's messed up!" Evelyn acted all hurt.
She thought her acting was probably terrible, but whatever. Mary, who was desperate to get Evelyn to leave, didn't notice a thing.
