Chapter 1379 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (54)
As the kiss ended, although Aidan still felt a lingering desire, he managed to suppress it. He didn't stay in Phoebe's room any longer; he truly didn't know what might happen if he continued to stay.
Phoebe, on the other hand, had calmed down and was now in a happy phase. She didn't mind Aidan's somewhat awkward departure.
After Aidan left, she immediately took out her phone and called Evelyn, eager to share the good news with her first.
As soon as the call connected, Phoebe couldn't wait to say, "Evelyn, Aidan likes me!"
Even over the phone, Evelyn could sense how excited Phoebe was. "Really? Congratulations!"
Those words made Phoebe feel especially pleased.
"How did it happen so quickly? I thought it would take some time for things to progress between you two," Evelyn said, puzzled. She didn't think Aidan was someone who easily developed feelings.
Phoebe recounted everything that had happened today. When she mentioned their kiss, she couldn't help but blush again. She had to admit, Aidan's kissing skills were superb, making her a bit reluctant to part.
Listening to this, Evelyn couldn't help but laugh. "I didn't expect Aidan to have a moment where he couldn't hold back." If she had been there, she would have been utterly shocked.
"Evelyn, what did he mean by that last sentence? Something about giving him some time," Phoebe felt a bit insecure and could only ask Evelyn. After all, Evelyn had known Aidan longer and understood him better than she did.
Evelyn was silent for a moment, thinking about how Aidan had agreed to return to the Lowe family. She guessed, "I think it might have something to do with the Lowe family. Maybe Aidan wants to resolve things with the Lowe family before being with you."
"Resolve things with the Lowe family?" Phoebe didn't quite understand what that meant.
"Yes." Evelyn didn't elaborate. Some things would only add to Phoebe's worries if she knew. "Just don't worry too much and wait patiently. Once Aidan handles everything, he'll give you a satisfactory answer."
She knew Aidan's character. When those assassins from Kurt came after him last night, she knew Aidan wouldn't let it go.
Evelyn didn't know what Aidan planned to do, but her intuition told her that the Lowe family wouldn't be peaceful for a while since he chose to return.
"Okay, since you say so, I won't overthink it. I'll just wait patiently." If Evelyn didn't tell her those, she would indeed overthink.
After chatting with Evelyn for a few more minutes, Phoebe hung up the phone and lay on her bed, her mind filled with the recent kiss.
She and Aidan had kissed before, but this time, Aidan initiated it. This meant something entirely different to her. She couldn't sleep, so she got up and went to Theodore's room next door.
Theodore was already asleep, but Phoebe didn't mind. She sat by his bed and recounted everything that had happened today.
"Theodore, your dad and I are going to be together. Are you happy?" Phoebe looked at Theodore's little face, relieved that her long-standing worry seemed unfounded.
As long as she and Aidan were together, Theodore wouldn't be fatherless, and no one at school would make fun of him. Thinking about all this and Aidan's recent changes, Phoebe felt it was all worth it.
