Chapter 73 You'll pay the price

"An hour ago, Cassie had already flown abroad," he said slowly, watching the anger rise on Evelyn's face, feeling helpless in his heart.

He didn't want his relationship with Evelyn to come to this, but he couldn't let Cassie go to prison either.

Evelyn was genuinely enraged, and in the blink of an eye, she made a move towards him. "Dermot! You're asking for death!"

Dermot's eyes moved, quickly avoiding her attack.

"Please calm down..."

Before Dermot could finish his sentence, Evelyn struck again, each blow merciless and without any mercy.

Calm down?

She couldn't calm down right now.

In the not-so-large living room, the two of them fought against each other.

Of course, Dermot mostly focused on dodging and didn't directly fight back against Evelyn.

Ten minutes later, Evelyn was starting to feel worn out, while Dermot remained composed, not even a single hair out of place.

In the next second, Evelyn stopped attacking, calmly tidying up her hair before saying, "I didn't expect you to be quite skilled."

She had been taught by professional teachers since childhood, learning all sorts of techniques.

"It is difficult to encounter opponents who can quickly defeat enemies."

Evelyn didn't expect Dermot to be so hidden.

"You're good too," Dermot smiled and said, relieved that she didn't attack him again.

He walked to the side, took a glass of water, and handed it to Evelyn. "Have some water. Moisten your throat."

Evelyn glared at him and then took the glass. "I'm telling you, this isn't over."

"I know," Dermot nodded and continued, "With your skills, how did you get caught by those three people?"

Evelyn remained silence, she hadn't had a chance to investigate this question yet.

"When you were having lunch with Ruby Kite earlier and went to the restroom, someone drugged your glass," the man said.

Evelyn raised an eyebrow, not surprised as she had already suspected this.

"I didn't expect Ms. Ackers to be so well-prepared. She even drugged me before finding someone to abduct me," she sneered. Why didn't she realize earlier that Cassie was such a cautious person?

However, Dermot shook his head and said to her, "It wasn't Cassie who had someone drug you."

Evelyn's expression changed. "It wasn't her?"

"It was the Barns family, the one who approached you at the banquet last time, Kenny," Dermot said, wanting Evelyn to shift her attention away from blaming Cassie, so that he could also avoid being implicated.

Evelyn was initially surprised, but quickly realized it was plausible.

She had already felt that Kenny was not a good person, but didn't expect him to have the audacity to drug her!

In that case, it was unclear whether to say that Cassie was lucky or unlucky.

If she was taken away by one of Kenny's men, it wouldn't involve Cassie.

However, it just so happened that she was drugged, which allowed Cassie's people to capture her.

"I can help you deal with the Barns family," Dermot spoke up at the right moment, adding, "The Barns family is not comparable to the Ackers family."

Evelyn glanced at him coldly. "I don't need your help."

"Don't think that by telling me about this, I will forgive Cassie. Don't even think about it!" Dermot's intentions were clear to her, and she wouldn't let him have his way.

The man forced a bitter smile, feeling helpless. After all, Cassie had done something wrong, and he was like her guardian, disliked by Evelyn as well. He could understand her perspective.

He wanted to say something more, but Evelyn preempted him, staring at him and saying, "Cassie ran away, and I will hold you responsible for it."

"Evelyn..."

"You better pray that you don't give me any handle to use against you, otherwise, I will deal with you as well." She said coldly.
