Chapter 892 Do You Need My Help with This?
"I'm not sure. Maybe." Dermot and Evelyn shared the same view, thinking that Margaret wouldn't let it go easily. He felt this incident was very likely targeted at him.
Evelyn smirked. "She blames you for messing with her feelings. She hates you out of love."
"Don't pin this on me, Evey," Dermot quickly denied. "I had amnesia back then. Even then, I never wanted to be with Margaret. She was the one who initiated the cooperation. I never had any other thoughts about her."
Dermot felt he had to clear this up to avoid giving Evelyn the wrong idea.
Evelyn just raised an eyebrow, not showing if she believed him or not.
Dermot wanted to explain more, but Evelyn interrupted him, "I get it. There's no need to explain so much."
Dermot insisted, "No, I need you to know. You’re the only one in my heart. Even with amnesia, I never thought of anyone else."
Evelyn couldn't help but feel a bit moved.
However, this time she wouldn't easily agree to be with Dermot. She needed to test him, not let him think she was easy to win over.
Evelyn took a sip of coffee and said calmly, "Alright."
"That's it?" Dermot felt a bit let down. He thought his heartfelt confession would move her more.
But he didn't get discouraged. He realized his past mistakes had made her lose trust in him.
They spent the whole afternoon in the coffee shop. Apart from Dermot occasionally saying something a bit intimate, it was pretty harmonious.
Throughout the time that Evelyn and Dermot were inside, Joshua sat in his car outside.
He couldn't understand what made Dermot so appealing to Evelyn. With all Dermot's mistakes, he shouldn't have a chance.
Watching them chat and laugh, Joshua felt more and more hopeless.
'How can I make Evelyn fall for me?' Joshua had been pondering this but had no answers, which frustrated him. Sometimes he even thought about getting rid of Dermot, so there'd be no competition.
But he knew that was unrealistic.
And if he did kill Dermot, Evelyn would never like him if she found out. She might even hate him. So he didn't dare.
But seeing them together made Joshua really uncomfortable.
Thinking it over, Joshua called Aidan. "Think of a way to get Evelyn over to you."
Aidan was confused. "What?"
"Evelyn is with Dermot," Joshua explained.
Aidan got it and felt a bit annoyed. "Come on, Joshua. Do I really have to help you with this? Are you the one pursuing Evelyn, or am I?"
Aidan thought, 'I would have liked to pursue Evelyn, but... Never mind. I gave up on that idea long ago.'
