Chapter 991: Are You Okay?
As soon as Evelyn finished talking, Wendy splashed her with coffee. Evelyn was caught off guard, and the coffee blurred her vision instantly.
Already feeling dizzy, Evelyn's gaze toward Wendy turned icy. "The Cook family sure raised a classy lady."
"What, trying to throw your family weight around?" Wendy sneered, unfazed.
"Evelyn, don't think you're all that just because you're the head of the Kyte family. No matter how prestigious you are, you still have to pay for your mistakes!"
Evelyn didn't respond. She grabbed a tissue to clean herself up and looked at Wendy. "Oh, you too, huh."
She planned to show Wendy the consequences of her actions but wondered if Wendy was ready for it.
Without another word, Evelyn called security.
Security arrived quickly and escorted Wendy out. Wendy shot Evelyn a resentful glance, warning, "Just wait and see; things won't end well for you."
Evelyn smiled.
She had spent her life helping people and had never done anything wrong. She couldn't imagine what bad ending Wendy was talking about.
After Wendy was taken away, Evelyn changed into a white coat and continued seeing patients. Her hair was still damp, and the coffee's warmth had faded, leaving her feeling even colder, worsening her unhealed illness.
After seeing all her patients, Evelyn finally gave in. She got up, ready to head downstairs to see a colleague in Internal Medicine for some medication.
But she didn't make it downstairs. While waiting for the elevator, she felt she couldn't hold on any longer.
"Are you okay?" a voice asked. Evelyn turned and saw it was Geoffrey.
Evelyn shook her head. "Thank you; I'm fine."
"You don't look fine at all," Geoffrey said, noticing her flushed face.
Evelyn didn't respond, anxiously waiting for the elevator.
The elevator hadn't arrived yet, and she almost fell while leaning against the wall. Geoffrey quickly stepped forward to support her. "Are you running a fever?"
Evelyn murmured a response, trying to push Geoffrey away.
"I'll take you downstairs to get some medicine," Geoffrey insisted. Past issues were behind them; they both had separate lives and didn't hold grudges.
Evelyn wanted to refuse but found it hard to even speak.
The fever medicine she took last night only slightly lowered her fever and didn't make her feel much better.
The elevator arrived, and Geoffrey helped her in. To her surprise, Lisa was inside.
Lisa never expected to see such a scene when the elevator doors opened.
Her anger flared up instantly, and she pointed at them, shouting, "Geoffrey! What are you doing?"
Her loud voice drew the attention of nearby doctors and nurses. For a moment, everyone had different expressions.
Many in the hospital knew about the entanglements between the three of them and thought it was normal for Evelyn to not be interested in Geoffrey.
But now, seeing Geoffrey supporting Evelyn, they were surprised. Could there be something going on between them in secret?
