Chapter 1257: You Want to Help Me Wash
At the villa, Evelyn parked the car and then wrestled to get Dermot out of the vehicle.
Tonight, Dermot was totally wasted, almost out cold, but he still had a goofy grin and knew who was with him.
"Evelyn, you know, I'm really happy," he slurred, his words barely making it to Evelyn's ear.
Evelyn chuckled and replied, "Yeah, I know."
With Dermot acting like this, who couldn't tell?
After dragging Dermot into the room, Evelyn plopped him onto the big bed and finally let out a sigh of relief. "You gotta drink less. I'll let it slide tonight, but don't think I'll babysit you next time."
Dealing with a drunk was a total pain.
"Okay, I promise," Dermot said, rubbing his temples and trying to sit up.
Seeing he wasn't completely out of it, Evelyn said, "Go take a shower. You won't sleep well stinking of booze."
"Will you help me wash?" Dermot asked without thinking.
Evelyn just shot him a look, which was all the answer he needed.
Dermot chuckled and shook his head. "I'd rather not shower. I'm scared I'll pass out in there with no one to help me."
"Dermot! Can you be serious for once?" She noticed that Dermot seemed pretty sober. Even if he was drunk, it wasn’t that bad.
But Dermot didn't care and flopped back on the bed. "Evelyn, I really can't get up. I'll shower in the morning."
"Whatever. Get some rest. I'm going to sleep too." Evelyn didn't plan to fuss over Dermot any longer. He seemed almost asleep anyway.
As she was leaving, Dermot suddenly opened his eyes and waved at her. "Evelyn, come here and let me hug you."
Evelyn didn't budge. "No, go to sleep."
With Dermot's antics, who knew what he really wanted?
"Really, just a hug. I just feel it's not quite real," Dermot said.
Seeing his serious face, Evelyn finally gave in, "Alright, just a hug. If you try anything, you're in big trouble!"
At this hour, not to mention a drunk Dermot, even she was too tired to do anything else.
Dermot successfully hugged Evelyn, feeling very satisfied.
Holding Evelyn from behind, Dermot rested his chin on her shoulder and murmured, his breath tinged with the scent of alcohol, "Evelyn, I love you."
Evelyn's heart fluttered, "Go to sleep; I'm here with you."
"Okay," Dermot agreed, and soon fell asleep. It seemed that with Evelyn by his side, he could sleep more peacefully.
Hearing the steady breathing from behind, Evelyn knew Dermot was already out cold.
"We will be happy." She muttered this softly, then closed her eyes and soon drifted off.
The next day, Evelyn woke up and was about to turn over when she felt someone holding her. She remembered that she had slept next to Dermot last night.
"Awake?" Dermot asked, sensing her move.
Evelyn responded and then sat up. "What time is it?"
"It's Sunday, no need to go to work," Dermot reminded her.
Evelyn had totally forgotten about that.
"Let's visit the Kyte family and see your folks after breakfast," Dermot said out of the blue.
Evelyn was puzzled. "Why?"
Dermot felt a bit awkward but still said honestly, "Your parents already know about my proposal, so they want us to come over for a meal."
Not just for a meal, but also to talk about the wedding.
