Chapter 1311: Listen to My Explanation
So, it was around 8 PM when Evelyn's plane touched down at Golombia Airport.
She hopped in a cab and headed straight home, all the while wondering what Dermot was up to.
Probably working, she figured.
A few minutes later, the taxi pulled up in front of her villa. She spotted the lights on in the living room and couldn't help but grin.
She swung the door open and stepped inside. The place looked a bit different, but she was too pumped to see Dermot to care.
But when she opened Dermot's bedroom door, she was floored to see a woman coming out of the bathroom.
"You..." Evelyn stammered, totally speechless.
Then it clicked. She knew this woman.
"Ava?" she asked, not entirely sure, but the woman looked just like the Ava she had seen in photos.
Ava was caught off guard but quickly recovered, smirking, "You're Evelyn, right?"
"Why are you in my house?" Evelyn snapped, her face darkening.
Ever since Leonard mentioned Ava, Evelyn hadn't given her a second thought. She had never imagined Ava would show up, let alone in Dermot's bedroom.
Evelyn was fuming, not just at Ava, but at Dermot too.
How could he let another woman into their house, into their bedroom?
Seeing Evelyn's reaction, Ava realized Dermot hadn't filled her in and couldn't help but feel a bit smug. "What do you think?"
Ava's cryptic response only fueled Evelyn's anger.
"Get out!" Evelyn yelled, pointing to the door, not wanting to see Ava for another second.
But Ava wasn't budging. She put on a pitiful act. "Why? Dermot said I could stay here."
"Really?" Evelyn couldn't believe her ears. How could Dermot do this?
Ava nodded. "Of course, if he didn't agree, how could I be here?"
Evelyn got it now.
If Dermot hadn't agreed, Ava wouldn't be in the villa.
Trying to keep her cool, she asked, "Where's Dermot?"
"Dermot? He's probably still busy. He's always so busy, you know that," Ava said it like she was super close to Dermot, making Evelyn feel like Ava had been around while she was away.
Evelyn was boiling. She couldn't believe Dermot would pull this behind her back.
If she hadn't come back early, she might never have known.
Maybe Dermot and Ava had been in touch for a while, and she had just missed it.
She called Dermot, gripping her phone tightly.
The phone rang forever before he picked up. Dermot sounded busy. "Evelyn? Is the meeting over?"
“Dermot! Where are you?” Evelyn growled, trying to keep it together.
Even so, Dermot could sense her anger.
But he had no clue why.
"At home," Dermot said, meaning their new place, which he hadn't told Evelyn about yet.
Hearing this, Evelyn felt like he was playing her for a fool. "Really? What a coincidence, I'm here too."
Dermot was momentarily stunned but quickly tried to explain, "Evelyn, let me explain."
"You better," Evelyn snapped, then hung up.
