Chapter 391 It's None of Your Business

Evelyn watched as Dermot's figure disappeared at the entrance of the community, completely out of her sight. Her eyes welled up with tears, and she wiped away the tears that almost fell from the corner of her eyes before turning around to go home.

But before she could take a step, she saw Greg standing not far away.

Greg was also feeling awkward at this moment. He never expected that simply eating a bowl of instant noodles at Evelyn's place would result in their breakup.

Although this was the outcome he wanted, seeing this scene unfold, he realized he wasn't as happy as he thought he would be.

"Are you... alright? I didn't mean for this to happen," he nervously spoke, not daring to look into Evelyn's eyes.

Evelyn walked past him without saying a word.

Greg followed after her, feeling worried. "Evelyn, I really didn't expect you two to break up. I..."

"It's none of your business," Evelyn interrupted, her voice cold and devoid of any emotion.

Greg was, at most, the catalyst. Even if it wasn't for him, Evelyn knew that when she realized she was just a substitute, she would have chosen to end the relationship anyway.

Hearing her words, Greg felt relieved. Just as he thought, how could eating a bowl of instant noodles result in a breakup? It was too casual of a reason.

Evelyn entered the elevator, and Greg wanted to follow, but she coldly said, "What are you doing, following me so late?"

"I'm just afraid you'll be upset. I wanted to comfort you," Greg forced a smile. Breaking up was a good thing, and he wanted to seize this opportunity.

"No need." With that, Evelyn pressed the close door button, and as the elevator doors closed, she disappeared from Greg's sight.

This time, Greg didn't follow. At this moment, Evelyn probably wanted to be alone. If he were to catch up, it would only make her dislike him more.

Having come to this realization, he turned around and left. He had to tell his grandfather this good news; the old man would surely be thrilled.

Compared to Greg's excitement, Evelyn was feeling very sad.

In truth, when she mentioned the breakup, she had hoped for Dermot to refuse. She thought that he would disagree, but she didn't expect...

Helplessly shaking her head, what if he disagreed? Did that mean she wouldn't break up?

Evelyn couldn't bear being someone else's substitute.

The answer was no, she couldn't.

The breakup was inevitable.

Rubbing her forehead, she thought this was for the best. She and Dermot shouldn't have been together in the first place, and now everything was back to square one.

She lay in bed, closed her eyes, and forced herself to sleep, not thinking about anything.

On the other hand, Dermot stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in his office. There were already several cigarette butts on the ground, indicating how restless he was.

When Todd pushed the door open and entered, he couldn't help but feel concerned when he saw Mr. Doyle like this.

"Mr. Doyle, did you need something?" Todd walked over, wanting to ask what had happened but didn't dare to speak.

Dermot extinguished the cigarette in his hand and finally looked at Todd. "Two things, update me on the latest sales figures, and book me a flight to Los Angeles.

The news of breaking up with Evelyn should be spread, especially to that person's ears."
"Secondly, get in touch with those stubborn board members for me. I need to meet them again."

Dermot didn't believe he couldn't convince those stubborn old men. Whatever Benjamin could offer, he could offer the same, or even more. He didn't believe those people wouldn't be tempted.

Todd nodded, then asked in surprise, "You and Ms. Kyte... broke up?"

Dermot didn't say anything, but to Todd, his silence meant confirmation. Todd was instantly shocked, "Why? Did Mr. Doyle say something to her?"

Dermot shook his head without giving a specific reason, "The reason doesn't matter. What's important is that Benjamin won't keep an eye on Evelyn after the breakup."
