Chapter 97 Do You Know Why Dermot is Afraid of the Dark?
"I thought they wouldn't invite you," Keith sneered, discontented. "Was it that bastard Dermot who invited you?"
"No, it was Grandpa Doyle," Evelyn replied. After all, she was Dermot's ex-wife, and their relationship with Grandpa Doyle had been good before. So, it was quite normal for him to invite her.
Keith was unhappy at her response. "I never thought you had such a good relationship with that old man."
"Well, it's not bad," Evelyn nodded.
Silence hung in the air. Keith glanced at her and said, "I'll come to pick you up tomorrow at the scheduled time, alright?"
"Okay," Evelyn agreed. Once she promised something, she didn't want to go back on her word.
Afterward, Keith got up and was about to walk to the door when Evelyn asked, "Actually, I've always been curious. Do you and Dermot have any grudges against each other?"
She had never heard of any grudges between the Doyle family and the Kartland family before. But judging from Keith's reaction, it seemed that their grudges were not small, so she was curious.
Keith's hand trembled as if he had thought of something unpleasant. His expression turned unsightly, but he remained silent for a long time.
"Sorry, you don't have to say if you don't want to," she casually asked, not expecting such a strong reaction from Keith.
Keith turned around and sat down in front of Evelyn. Slowly, he said, "Do you have any alcohol?"
"Uh...This is a hospital," Evelyn reminded him.
"Then just pour me a glass of water," Keith glanced at her disdainfully.
Evelyn got up and poured him a glass of water, placing it in front of him.
Keith picked up the water and took a sip, feeling relieved.
"In fact, I don't have any grudges against him. I just despise the Doyle family to the extreme. If he didn't have the Doyle surname, I wouldn't have been at odds with him," Keith said slowly.
Evelyn rested her chin on her hand, showing a puzzled expression.
After taking another sip of water, Keith continued, "It is rumored that I killed my father, but no one knows that his health had already collapsed. It was way back when my mother was with Dermot's father..."
"When my mother ran away, he took out all his anger on me, drinking every day and coming to beat me up when he got drunk."
Talking about those past events, Keith didn't feel any pain, as if he was reminiscing as an outsider.
"So, when he died, I didn't feel sad at all. Instead, I was prepared in advance. Once he died, I took over the Kartland family, and those people would think it was my calculated plan."
Evelyn was shocked to hear Keith say that her mother followed Dermot's father.
What kind of drama is this aristocratic family show?
As Keith finished his drink, he also hid any trace of sadness on his face and mysteriously asked Evelyn, "Do you know that Dermot is afraid of the dark?"
"I know," Evelyn nodded.
Keith was surprised that she knew, but didn't ask further. Instead, he said, "Then do you know why he is afraid of the dark?"
Evelyn shook her head.
Keith stood up and leaned toward her ear.
Evelyn's curiosity was piqued, and she eagerly waited for Keith to explain, unaware of the cunning glint in his eyes.
he lowered his head and kissed Evelyn's hair.
Evelyn quickly backed away, looking at him in fear. "What are you doing?"
"Sorry, couldn't resist," he smirked.
Evelyn's face turned dark, and if they weren't in a hospital, she would have wanted to give him a good beating for speaking so rudely.
Keith walked toward the door and waved at her.
But Evelyn was not willing to let it go and asked, "You still haven't said why?"
"Ahhhh, won't tell you," Keith said playfully.
