Chapter 853 You Don't Have What It Takes

"Knowing your enemy is the key to beating them. You should know that." Although Joshua appeared before Dermot had regained his memory, Dermot had an instinctive feeling that Joshua would pose a threat to him, so he spared no expense in investigating Joshua's identity.

Joshua gave a wry smile. "Mr. Doyle, you are indeed meticulous. I can't help but admire that."

Joshua had also looked into Dermot, but all of Joshua's information was public. What he found out was accessible to everyone, nothing useful.

Dermot ignored the compliment and asked, "So, what do you think about my offer to team up, Mr. Garcia?"

"What if I say no?" Joshua shot back.

"No problem," Dermot replied coolly. But before Joshua could relax, Dermot added, "Then I might have a chat with Evelyn. She’d probably be curious about what you've been up to all these years."

Joshua's face darkened, a murderous glint in his eyes as he stared at Dermot.

Dermot didn’t flinch and continued, "Oh, and I also found out Eugene's sudden death in prison might be linked to you, right?"

Once Dermot realized Joshua wasn’t just anyone, he had someone tail him. He knew Joshua’s every move.

"You had someone follow me, didn’t you?" Joshua pieced it together. Without a tail, Dermot wouldn’t know so much.

Dermot didn’t deny it and continued, "So, Mr. Garcia, how about rethinking my offer?"

Joshua’s face grew even darker. No one had ever threatened him like this before.

He looked at Dermot like he was already dead. Joshua was ready to kill him. Even if it made Evelyn suspicious, he couldn’t let Dermot live. Dermot knew too much.

Reading Joshua’s thoughts, Dermot still wasn’t scared. "Mr. Garcia, think it through. I might not be as strong as you, but killing me won’t be easy. Can you handle the fallout?"

If Evelyn found out, it wouldn’t just be about Joshua’s secret identity and Eugene’s death; it’d also include killing Dermot. Dermot was sure Evelyn wouldn’t stand for it.

Joshua knew this, too, which was why he looked so grim.

They stood there, locked in a standoff. Finally, Joshua chuckled. "How about I get the whole Doyle family for you? Wouldn’t that be better?"

"You don’t have what it takes," Dermot said bluntly. So what if Joshua was a mercenary boss? Dermot was sure Joshua didn’t have many men with him. Taking out Gerald would be impressive enough; the rest was a pipe dream.

"So, if I could, you’d really want me to do it?" Joshua was annoyed but kept his cool, not showing too much emotion.

Dermot chuckled and dodged the question. "Let’s talk strategy."

"Killing Gerald is doable, but Otis has to go too. I don't like him," Joshua said. "He’s always hanging around Evelyn, and it is annoying."
