Chapter 1346 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (21)
Evelyn was floored for a sec before she snapped back. She shot Niall a look, all puzzled. "Wait, so you're thinking of moving in with them?"
"Huh?" Now it was Niall's turn to be caught off guard. "Why the heck would I do that? I barely know them."
I mean, he was never really alone growing up. He had Aidan and Evelyn as his fam here. Plus, he was hitched now, so no way he was bailing.
"I figured after all these years without seeing your real parents, you'd be itching to live with them," Evelyn said with a bitter smile, but then she got where Niall was coming from.
Honestly, they were in the same boat. Even though they didn't have parents growing up, they never lacked love. So, whether back then or now, they never went out of their way to find their real parents. For Evelyn, it was Blake who found her.
Niall couldn't just ignore the news about his real parents, just like Evelyn couldn't have. So, he decided to go check them out.
But for now, Niall probably just wanted to meet his real parents and had no other plans.
"If it was before I got married, maybe I'd think about it. But now that I'm married and got my own fam, why should I fit into someone else's?" He was pretty happy with how things were and didn't want any changes.
Evelyn nodded. "Niall, whatever you decide, I've got your back."
Whether Niall decided to go back to his parents or not, Evelyn would support him, standing behind him as his backup.
Niall grinned, reached out, and patted her shoulder. "Thanks."
They joked around, and soon the banquet kicked off. Aidan and Phoebe stood on the stage, holding Theodore. It was a super sweet moment.
"I wish they were a real family," Evelyn sighed.
Niall nodded. "Yeah, we're both married now, but Aidan's still flying solo. It's kinda worrying."
Who would've thought that Aidan, the oldest and the one who should've been married first, was still single?
"But even though Aidan isn't married, he had a kid before us, so in that sense, he's ahead of us," Niall added.
Evelyn thought about it and realized it was true, and couldn't help but laugh.
On the stage, after Aidan and Phoebe gave a quick thanks to everyone, they came back to the table where Evelyn and the gang were sitting.
Craig was also at this table, which was mostly filled with family members.
"I get you don't wanna go back to the Irvine family, but you can't keep crashing at Aidan's place," Craig said as soon as Phoebe sat down.
Phoebe felt awkward; this wasn't the time to bring this up.
"Let's eat first; we can talk after," Phoebe said, trying to ease the tension.
Craig wanted to say more, but Evelyn nudged Dermot beside her. Dermot got the hint and looked at Craig. "Have a drink."
Craig found himself at a loss for words. He cast a fleeting glance at Dermot but chose to remain silent.
Fine, they would discuss it after the banquet.
"Look what I got!" Evelyn took out a gift box and handed it to Theodore. "This is for you, little guy."
"I got something for Theodore too!" Niall quickly pulled out his gift and placed it in front of Theodore.
