Chapter 1386 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (61)
At the Lowe Manor, Sienna looked at Aidan in front of her, feeling very complicated.
Aidan was excellent. Even though she hadn't given him much power yet, some of the board members had already proactively suggested grooming him as the heir.
She used to worry about how to convince those people to accept Aidan, but now it seemed she had overthought it. For some reason, the more outstanding he was, the less confident Sienna felt, always feeling uneasy.
"How have you and Ariana been getting along lately?" Sienna asked.
"Pretty well," Aidan replied. In fact, he only felt disgust towards Ariana. However, he didn't show any of it. Ariana didn't notice, and naturally, neither did Sienna.
Sienna nodded in satisfaction. The Graves family and the Lowe family were well-matched in terms of status. She thought Ariana had good character, which was why she chose her. But she still couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy.
"Why was the news about your engagement to Ariana deleted? Did you do it?" Sienna's eyes suddenly turned sharp as she stared at Aidan, seemingly wanting to see through him.
Aidan looked her straight in the eyes. Even though he knew she was suspicious of him, he showed no fear. "Yes, I did."
"Why?" Sienna was somewhat surprised by his straightforward admission. She had expected Aidan to deny it. If he had denied it, she would have suspected he had some other motive.
"The Lowe family has always been low-key. I felt that news of this engagement wasn't suitable for public knowledge. I discussed it with Ariana, and she felt the same way." Aidan had already prepared his explanation and wasn't afraid of Sienna's questioning.
Upon hearing this, Sienna indeed didn't think much of it. "It's considerate of you to think of that. The Lowe family has been able to endure for so many years because of its low profile."
That was why she always looked down on the top ten families in the country, thinking they were all fools for exposing their various situations to the public, which was detrimental to their development.
"If you and Ariana feel it's appropriate, we can go ahead and set the engagement," Sienna said.
Aidan was about to say there was no rush when Sienna continued, "Coincidentally, there's a vice president position open in the company. After the engagement, this position will be more suitable for you."
In other words, Aidan would get the vice president position only if he got engaged. If not, he got nothing.
Aidan definitely didn't want to get engaged to Ariana. His current interactions with her were purely to dispel Sienna's suspicions. But this pace was too slow; he needed to get closer to the core of the Lowe family.
Seeing the situation, he realized he couldn't avoid the engagement. At least, it was just an engagement. Once he reached the vice president position, he should have the right to be involved in most of the Lowe family's affairs. By then, it would be time to end things.
Sienna didn't know what he was thinking. She just saw that he hadn't agreed yet and her face turned grim. "You don't want to? Are you still thinking about Phoebe?"
"No, I just think it's too fast," Aidan replied, expressionless.
Sienna looked at him suspiciously. "Too fast? Not really. Back then, your father and I got married just a few days after meeting, much faster than you two."
"I'll follow your arrangements," Aidan replied, not wanting to arouse Sienna's suspicion because of this. What he needed to do now was endure. He was close to success and naturally didn't want to give up at this point.
Hearing him agree, Sienna's face immediately lit up with a smile. "Very good. I'll discuss it with the Graves family and get your engagement to Ariana settled as soon as possible."
"Okay." Aidan nodded, showing no particular reaction.
