Chapter 158 You’d Better Think It Through
Nothing happened that night; Dermot's worries were obviously unnecessary.
Early the next morning, Evelyn received a call from Officer Rogers, informing her that all the men who had knocked her out had been arrested and were currently being interrogated. He asked if she wanted to come and see them.
Evelyn immediately agreed and, after a quick tidy up, left the house, getting ready to go to the police station.
Across the hall, Dermot seemed to sense that she was going out and opened his door at the same time.
"Good morning," he greeted Evelyn as he spoke.
"Good morning," she replied.
Closing their doors, the two walked side by side towards the elevator. Evelyn spoke first, "Officer Rogers said they've caught all the people. I'm going to the police station."
"Alright, be careful on the way," Dermot smirked, feeling that his relationship with Evelyn was getting better.
He didn't follow her because he had received an unexpected phone call last night and had to have a meeting with the person today. If things went well, there would be one less obstacle in his pursuit of Evelyn.
When Evelyn arrived at the police station, Officer Rogers was in the interrogation room. She stood by the door and didn't go in.
"Why did you knock out, Evelyn?" Officer Rogers sternly asked, a hint of coldness in his serious face.
The man sitting across from Evelyn, she remembered, was the one with the best skills that day. If it weren't for him, Evelyn felt she wouldn't have been knocked unconscious.
She judged that the man’s skills should be about the same level to Dermot's. If it were a one-on-one fight, she might not beat him up.
How could such a person become Natalie's henchman?
Evelyn couldn't understand.
After a while, Nathan said, "I just didn't like her, and …"
Not to mention Evelyn, even Officer Rogers didn't believe it.
To act just because you don't like someone? This reason is unbelievable.
"Nathan, you’d better think it through before answering."
Officer Rogers said coldly, "Tell me the truth. I’ll consider give you a plea bargain. If you keep your mouth shut, I'm afraid you'll spend your whole life in prison."
Nathan was silent and did not answer.
Officer Rogers was infuriated and slammed his fist down on the table, "Who is behind it? What did they give you to make you keep it a secret even if it means spending the rest of your life in prison?"
"There is no one behind me. Everything is initiated by me, including the others who were deceived into joining. It has nothing to do with them." Nathan said calmly, seemingly unafraid of being sent into jail.
Officer Rogers was infuriated by his stubbornness. He got up and walked out of the interrogation room, seeing Evelyn standing outside. He said to her, "Did you hear that? This person refuses to speak. I'm afraid the case can only be solved up to this point."
There was pressure from higher-ups, and with the public's attention, Officer Rogers wanted to continue the investigation. If Nathan refuse to confess, he couldn't persuade the higher-ups to continue.
"Can I go in and talk to him for a while?" Evelyn asked.
Officer Rogers frowned, but then said, "Alright, you are also involved. It shouldn't be a problem to chat for a while."
He then took Evelyn into the interrogation room.
When Nathan saw Officer Rogers come in, he didn't react much. But when he saw Evelyn, his eyes flickered briefly, but quickly returned to calm.
Evelyn sat across from him without saying anything, carefully observing him, as if trying to see through him.
Nathan felt uncomfortable. "You don't need to waste your time. I won't say anything."
"Who is your teacher?" Evelyn suddenly asked.
