Chapter 478 Are You Two Close?
After finally finishing the evening, Evelyn walked out of the restaurant, she took a deep breath and instantly felt much more relaxed upon feeling the fresh air rushing around her.
She still didn’t fit in well on such occasions, the thought made her smile. Perhaps burying herself in surgery or research is what suited her best.
While still in her own thoughts, Geoffrey suddenly appeared next to her, seemingly hesitant but clearly wanting to say something, looking at her, he said: "Evelyn."
Evelyn turned to him and asked, "What's the matter?"
"Well, nothing." Geoffrey felt awkward and avoided eye contact with Evelyn, as he continued. "I haven't been back to Moris City for several years and it feels like there have been some significant changes. I'm not familiar with it anymore."
Evelyn blinked at him silently, wondering what's his point.
"Do you have time tomorrow? Can you show me around Moris City?" He finally gathered the courage to ask.
He had been busy with work for the past few years and still remained single. Due to his high standards, he believed that the people that were introduced to him by his family often didn’t meet his criteria.
Now encountering someone as outstanding as Evelyn, he naturally didn’t want to miss out.
Although he acknowledged that he may not be as excellent as Evelyn, working at Columbia Hospital was still better than at Moris Hospital. So he felt she wouldn’t look down on him.
At this moment, he didn’t understand that Evelyn was at Moris Hospital because she wanted to be there, not because she had no other options.
Upon hearing his request, Evelyn felt a bit embarrassed and said,"I'm sorry, I've been quite busy lately with surgeries at the hospital, so I might not be able to accompany you."
"However, you can ask other alumni. They should also be exploring Moris City. You can join them."
She rejected him as politely as she could but Geoffrey didn’t say anything further. "Well, that's fine. You're busy for now. We can contact each other in a few days."
Beep beep!!
A honking sound could be heard nearby. Evelyn instinctively looked over and saw Dermot now getting out of the car. Apparently, he had been waiting there for her for a while now.
Evelyn didn't expect him to show up and quickly said to Geoffrey,"I have to go now. Goodbye."
"Oh, alright." Geoffrey nodded quickly, watching as Evelyn quickly walked towards Dermot.
Watching the two drive away, he couldn’t quite describe the feelings in his heart. It was definitely not a pleasant sensation at all.
After all these years, he finally met someone who he felt matched him, only to find out that she already has a boyfriend. No, maybe even a husband...
He sighed internally, realizing that he needed to ask around for more information about Evelyn.
In Dermot's car...
The man next to Evelyn had been silent ever since he picked Evelyn up. By not saying anything, it was clear that his mood was not too good.
Evelyn knew exactly what he was angry about, but she simply covered her mouth and had no intention of explaining anything to him. She just wanted to see how long Dermot could hold it in.
As it turned out, Dermot couldn't hold it in for long anyway.
"So, who was that person just now?" he asked, despite trying to make it sound like a casual question, his displeasure was still evident.
Evelyn leaned against the car window, looking at Dermot. "Oh, he is a fellow graduate who also attended the 60th anniversary celebration."
"Oh," Dermot replied, his dissatisfaction kept increasing.
"Are you two close?" the man asked again, afraid that he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight without clarifying.
Evelyn forced back a smile, as if pondering. "Not really, I just met him today."
Upon hearing this, Dermot inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief but still said,"He doesn't seem like someone you just met, though."
Men always understood each other the best and Dermot understood Geoffrey's intentions very clearly.
