Chapter 1102: Sorry to Disappoint You
"Yo, I bugged your hospital room," Evelyn blurted out, not holding back. She wanted Joshua to know she was done with his lies—she was onto him.
Joshua was floored; he never saw that coming.
He let out a dry laugh. "Man, once you get suspicious, you don't mess around, do you?"
Evelyn used to trust him completely. But once she had doubts, she'd dig until she hit gold.
"So, if you knew all this, why'd you agree to go abroad with me? Why even come to the airport today?" Joshua was baffled. She could've just told him earlier and saved them the trip.
Evelyn gave a bitter smile. "I was hoping you'd feel guilty and spill the beans before we left."
Wishful thinking on her part.
"Sorry to burst your bubble," Joshua said. He never planned on telling her the truth. He was gonna find Leon, make up some story about getting better, and by then, even if Evelyn found it fishy, she'd think it was a miracle.
Plus, by then, they'd be living abroad for a while. Without Dermot in the picture, maybe their relationship would’ve taken off.
He had big dreams for the future, but now it was all shot to hell.
Evelyn revealing everything now meant she never planned on going abroad with him.
Evelyn stood up, looking at Joshua, her emotions all over the place. "Joshua, I really wanted to see you as a brother."
"But I don't wanna be your brother. I don't wanna be like Aidan, who loves you but keeps it bottled up 'cause he's scared of messing up the sibling thing." Aidan could do it, but he couldn't.
Joshua figured maybe 'cause Aidan went abroad early, he didn't spend much time with Evelyn later on, so he always liked her.
Evelyn's face darkened. "Do you even know what love is? If you really loved me, you'd know love needs restraint." She looked at him, disappointed.
Joshua's face went pale, and he was speechless.
Evelyn didn't plan on doing anything to him; she just wanted to get it all out. "Go back to where you belong."
"And what about you?" Joshua asked.
"This is where I belong, got it?" Evelyn looked at him. Did Joshua still think she'd leave with him now?
Joshua gave a bitter smile. Of course, he got it; he just couldn't accept it.
"Won't you give me a chance? If we go abroad, we could be happy." Joshua was sure he could treat Evelyn right if she just gave him a shot.
But those words meant nothing to Evelyn. "Joshua, while I'm still willing to call you a friend, please leave."
Joshua murmured, "Evelyn."
"Mr. Garcia, it's time to board the plane," Brandon walked over, sensing the tension.
He silently cursed, hoping they weren't fighting right now.
"Brandon, help him board the plane," Evelyn said to Brandon, then turned to leave.
As for her luggage, she hadn't really packed anything; the suitcase was empty.
