Chapter 897 Am I That Kind of Person?

Before long, Aidan finished preparing all the dishes, and everyone sat down at the table for dinner.

The atmosphere was better than Evelyn expected since Dermot and Joshua kept quiet. As long as they didn't clash, things stayed peaceful.

Niall did most of the talking, sharing how he and Lily met, got to know each other, and fell in love. Evelyn listened, feeling a bit envious.

All Evelyn wanted was something simple: to love someone without any complicated feelings. Otherwise, it didn't feel pure enough.

Dermot noticed Evelyn's envious look and felt a bit uneasy.

He thought it was his fault. He didn't regret their divorce since they were practically strangers back then.

What he regretted was not cherishing their time together after he pursued her, leading to their current situation.

After dinner, no one rushed to leave. Aidan called Niall and Joshua to the study, likely to discuss company matters.

Evelyn had no clue what they were discussing, especially since Joshua now worked for the Kyte Group. But she believed that they wouldn't harm the company.

Evelyn stood on the second-floor balcony, staring at the moon, lost in thought.

"What are you thinking about?" Dermot asked, having walked up behind her.

"Nothing, just admiring the night," Evelyn replied, still looking at the moon.

She felt something on her shoulders and saw Dermot's coat draped over her.

"Yeah, the night is beautiful, but not as beautiful as you," Dermot said, standing beside her.

Evelyn instinctively looked at him. Underneath the coat, Dermot wore a brown sweater, looking effortlessly elegant.

She couldn't help but recall how dashing he was when they first met. Now, he had matured, and his charm had only grown, making him even more captivating. His eyes were more mesmerizing than ever.

When Dermot turned his head, he saw Evelyn staring at him, lost in thought.

He chuckled softly and leaned in. "What? Got obsessed?"

Evelyn's cheeks flushed, and she quickly looked away. "You're so full of yourself."

"Yeah, you said the same thing when we first met." Dermot recalled something. Evelyn had called him self-absorbed back then, and it had infuriated him.

Thinking back now, he found those moments quite beautiful.

It hadn't been that long. This winter was their first winter since they were together, but Dermot felt like they had known each other forever, and their feelings had deepened.

Evelyn remembered too and didn't feel embarrassed. "You were self-absorbed and arrogant back then, a real jerk."

Although Dermot was still self-absorbed, he had toned it down compared to before.

"Then why didn't you hit me back then?" Dermot asked.

"Do I seem like someone who hits people easily?" Evelyn replied. Although she had been exasperated by Dermot's behavior, it hadn't reached the point of physical confrontation.

Plus, Dermot had come to her to treat Cassie, as a family member of the patient.

As a doctor, how could she possibly hit a patient's family member?
