Chapter 413 Why Must It Be Like This?

When Evelyn arrived at the remote mountain villa, Ruby was already waiting for her at the entrance. Seeing her standing there looking fine, Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief.

She got out of the car and walked over, glancing at the villa with caution. "Where's Craig?"

Ruby glanced at the villa, and Evelyn knew he was inside.

She grabbed Ruby's hand and started walking outside. Ruby didn't refuse and followed her until they reached the car before stopping. "Evelyn, don't worry about it. This is my problem."

"Ruby!" Evelyn was angry and scolded, "Since when did your problems become mine? Have you ever treated me, Evelyn, as your friend?"

Ruby bitterly smiled, it's precisely because she treated Evelyn as a friend that she didn’t want to bother Evelyn.

Seeming to know what she was thinking, Evelyn said, "No matter how powerful Craig is, can he really conceal everything? Listen to me, come with me. Whatever it is, we can face it together."

"I've got your back!" She grabbed Ruby and tried to get on the car, but this time, Ruby didn't listen. "Evelyn, the Kite family can't fight him."

These words held a hint of helplessness, but they were an unavoidable truth.

If the Kite family had any chance, they wouldn't willingly subject themselves to humiliation.

"If the Kite family can't fight him, then there's me, and my brother, and the rest of us. I refuse to believe that with so many of us, we can't find a way to deal with him," Evelyn said. Moreover, in Evelyn's eyes, it wasn't that difficult for the Irvine family to get involved.

For every Lauren she could find, there would be another one within the Irvine family.

Ruby knew that Evelyn was looking out for her, but the more she realized it, the more she hesitated to involve others.

The more time she spent with Craig, the more she understood that he was a madman, someone who could bite at any moment, and she didn't dare risk Evelyn.

She pulled Evelyn and said with great emphasis, "Honestly, I think he's not that bad now. Even though he might not marry me in the future, he doesn't have a girlfriend right now. Maybe I still have a chance."

"Ruby, what do you think of yourself? His slave?" Evelyn's words were harsh, but she had to say them harshly, in hopes of waking Ruby up and dispelling her foolish thoughts.

Craig was just a jerk. Ruby shouldn't waste her time with such a jerk.

Ruby's face turned pale; her eyes filled with pain. "Evelyn, I..."

"I know, you care about the Kite family. But have you ever thought, if your uncle and aunt find out, would they agree? I bet they would rather not have the Kite family than let you do this."

Evelyn had some understanding of Ruby's parents, they were both doting parents, and if they knew the extent of Ruby's suffering, they would probably want to kill Craig.

Ruby understood what Evelyn was saying, but the more she understood, the more she knew she couldn't continue being willful. It was time for her to be responsible.

Evelyn sighed, knowing that Ruby wouldn't change her mind without resolving the trouble caused by the Kite family. She could only say, "If the Kite family is safe, will you leave him then?"

"If it wasn't for the Kite family, why would I go through all this?" Ruby admitted, it was indeed for the Kite family.

Evelyn nodded, understanding in her heart.

"I'll figure something out. In the meantime, you take care of yourself and don't let that jerk bully you, okay?" Evelyn instructed, having made up her mind.

Ruby was a bit worried when she heard this, "What can you do? Confront Craig directly?"

She knew about Evelyn's breakup with Dermot, and it didn't end well.

Y, without Dermot's help, she felt that it would be difficult for Evelyn to accomplish it, and she might even put herself in danger.
