Chapter 933: Must Pay with Life
"I think you're overestimating my importance to him. He's not dumb. Do you really think he'd just sit back because you control me?" Evelyn said. Even if Dermot did that, how could he be sure Randy would let her go after he died?
She knew Dermot wouldn't give in easily, but she was still worried.
Randy glanced at her. "I think you're very important to him. Maybe he'd die for you."
"You're overthinking it," Evelyn replied, smiling without warmth.
"Is that so? Let's wait and see," Randy said.
Evelyn stayed quiet. She figured Dermot was already on his way, but she didn't know if he had a plan. He wouldn't come just to die, right?
Dermot wouldn't come to die, but he wouldn't risk Evelyn's life either. On his way, he prepared for death, needing to ensure Evelyn's survival; otherwise, his death would be pointless.
Randy squinted, looking like he was resting. Evelyn scanned her surroundings, looking for an escape.
Soon, there was a commotion outside. Evelyn's heart tightened. It had to be Dermot.
Randy opened his eyes and smiled. "Let's go see."
Evelyn followed Randy outside. As she watched him walk ahead, she thought about taking him down to keep everyone safe.
But then a red laser beam flashed by, and she dismissed the idea. There were definitely snipers watching. If she made a move, they'd shoot her without hesitation.
Dermot reached the lawn, scanning for Evelyn. "Where's Evelyn?" he demanded.
"Mr. Doyle, don't worry. Ms. Kyte will be here soon," the butler said, smiling like it was a casual visit.
Dermot snorted and ignored him.
Soon, Randy and Evelyn came into view. As Dermot moved to approach, a gun was placed against Evelyn's temple. "Dermot, stay right there," Randy said, eyes gentle like their first meeting.
But they both knew it was a front. Randy was ruthless.
"Mr. Doyle, I don't understand what you mean," Dermot said, feigning ignorance.
Randy didn't explain. "If you hadn't gone after Gerald, I might've let you go."
Initially, he hadn't planned for Dermot to inherit the Doyle family, but he hadn't intended to kill him either. But after his son died at Dermot's hands, he couldn't accept it.
So today, Dermot had to die.
