Chapter 460 It's Best for Him to Get Lost

At the dining table, the two ate their meal. Evelyn couldn't help but marvel at how Dermot's skills were getting better. The dishes were almost on par with a five-star restaurant.

"Luke works at your company?" Dermot asked out of the blue while eating.

Evelyn froze, looking at him in disbelief. "You know him?"

The man nodded, informing her about the investigation and then added, "It was your reminder yesterday that prompted me to have Todd look into it, and it turns out there really is such a bastard son."

Evelyn forced a laugh, not knowing what to say. Before, she only had doubts, but now there was confirmation.

"Since he's your father's son, why did he come to work at my company?" Evelyn couldn't help but inquire, feeling that it wasn't just a coincidence.

Dermot looked at her, contemplative. "I don’t know, in any case, I don't trust his intentions. It's best for you to kick him out." With someone like him by Evelyn's side, he couldn't be at ease.

"It's difficult. I just signed a contract with him. If I let him go now, I'll have to compensate him." Evelyn laughed bitterly, blaming herself for not investigating thoroughly before signing the contract.

Dermot found it somewhat exasperating to hear her words. "I'll help you with the compensation."

"It's not about the money. It's about swallowing this insult." Clearly, it was the other person with ill intentions, so why was she the one who ended up losing?

"So what do you plan to do? Let him continue working at your company?" Dermot felt unhappy but didn't voice it. He knew Evelyn always had her own considerations and didn't like others making decisions for her.

Evelyn didn't intend to hide anything from him either and nodded. "Well, regardless, he seems talented based on his resume. As long as he doesn't do anything detrimental to the company, I don't care whose son he is."

Dermot looked at her, knowing she wasn't joking. "What if... his target isn't your company, but you?" he asked directly, feeling that this possibility was quite likely.

Evelyn hadn't considered this possibility and after careful thought, she nonchalantly said, "Then it doesn't matter. He can't best me anyway. In the end, I won't be at a loss."

Dermot smiled bitterly. He can't best you, perhaps he doesn't even want to fight you, but has another objective? Sighing inwardly, he didn’t want to say much about it. "It's up to you to decide. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help."

For now, Luke hadn't done anything, so he couldn't just go after him without reason. But if he pushed Benjamin too far, who knows if desperation would drive him to drastic measures.
His people would keep an eye on Luke at all times, not giving him any chance to harm Evelyn.

"Dermot." Evelyn suddenly called out to him, and Dermot looked up at her.

"What's the matter?"

"Do you remember when I mentioned that your fear of the dark was a psychological issue?" She didn't plan on mentioning Dermot's recent condition but brought up his fear of the dark instead.

Dermot nodded with a serious expression. "What about it?"

"I have an acquaintance who is very knowledgeable in this area. If you have the time, I would like... to take you to see them." She cautiously spoke, afraid of upsetting Dermot. What surprised her was Dermot's reaction when he heard her.

The words were not filled with any animosity, but spoken with a smile, "No need, I already have a doctor."

Evelyn was taken aback, "You have a doctor?"

"Yes, Todd helped me to find one, a renowned psychologist in China. I have already started my treatment," he said.

Upon hearing this, Evelyn didn't feel angry, in fact, she felt somewhat relieved. At least she was still in his thoughts, still cared for. And that was enough for her.
